Sabrina and Matt first remember noticing each other in middle school during a seventh grade English project. Let me set the scene for you- its a project presentation day, and the project was to describe the theme of the novel the class had read in a creative way. Matt decides to play guitar while singing a song to the class, where as Sabrina decides she's going to make a rap and perform that in front of the entire class- very on brand for both of them. While that is their earliest (and funniest) memory of each other, they did not truly become friendly until high school. Sabrina's friend group and Matt's friend group merged into one, and soon they all began seeing each other frequently at sports games, bonfires, parties, and high school dances. They joke now about how both of them thought the other was cute, but they were both too nervous to make a move.

Flash forward to a few years later, it is New Year's Eve in 2015. Sabrina is home from college where she is in her sophomore year of nursing school, and Matt is home on leave from the Marines. They both get invited to the same New Year's Eve party, and at this party is where they reconnect over their love of music and their desire to help other people in their career. This is where their love story truly begins. When the ball dropped at midnight and they shared a New Year's Eve kiss, they both had no idea they would be sharing all of their future years together.

Shortly after this party, Matt had to return to his base in Jacksonville, NC and Sabrina had to return to her college in Garden City, NY. For the next two and a half years, they maintained a long distance relationship. For 8 of those months, Matt was away at sea and was virtually unreachable by phone. They wrote letters to each other, spoke on the phone every other Sunday (which was as often as possible), and dreamed of each other while they were worlds apart. They both knew that what they had was too important to let something silly like distance ruin it. When Matt came home from his deployment, they remember talking about how if they made it through all of those months apart, they could make it through anything.

During their long distance relationship, they made every attempt to see each other. They went to Lake George, Rangers games, saw sunsets at the beach together. Sabrina drove down from NY to NC with a friend just to see him for one day, & Matt took Sabrina as his date to the USMC Ball. Before they knew it, it was June of 2018. Sabrina had just graduated with her BSN and was studying for her NCLEX, and Matt was on his way home to Poughkeepsie- for good.

In the years since Matt returned home to Sabrina, they have had countless adventures together. This includes seeing many concerts together, hiking both locally and across the country, going on family vacations, and taking small weekend trips just the two of them. All of the years together just solidified what they already knew- that they wanted the rest of their lives to be spent together as well.

On October 27th, 2022 after almost 6 years together, Matt took Sabrina on a walk in the fall foliage at one of their favorite trails and asked her to marry him. Sabrina said yes! He then had both of their families surprise her at her parents home, as well as having all of their friends surprise her at their apartment later that night. It was truly one of the most amazing days of both of their lives.

We cannot wait to take this next step together as husband and wife, and we are so happy to have you with us to celebrate. Lets party!!!!
