Matt and Shannon met in Springfield, Missouri during the summer of 2019. They were both playing soccer for semi-professional teams of the same club when Shannons uncle set them up! Matt was still finishing his degree at Erskine College in South Carolina and Shannon was about to start college at Evangel University in Springfield, so they parted ways for a bit.

Fate brought them back together a year later and they went on their first date the summer of 2020. At the time, Matt had already committed to becoming the Graduate Assistant at Life University in Georgia, and moved at the end of July that same summer. Shannon took the responsibility of taking in Matts cat, Skipothy, and immediately adopted him as her own son.

Shannon booked a flight to go to Atlanta to see him the first week of August because she knew that something good was going to come out of this relationship, no matter the distance or hardships. During that first ATL trip, they started dating. They both booked countless flights to go see each other while in a long distance relationship and were adamant about having strong communication. During their long distance journey, Shannon decided to move down to Georgia with Matt. In June of 2021, they moved into a 600sqft, 1 bedroom apartment with their baby boy, Skipothy.

After moving in together, their relationship developed further and they realized they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together.

Since living in together, they have visited family in England and Missouri and have continued to grow in their love for each other. They've lived in Georgia, Tennessee, and now back in Missouri. Matt proposed to Shannon during a trip back to Missouri on December 29th, 2022. They are so excited for what the future holds, and know some of their greatest memories are yet to come.
