Driving to and parking at the boat lines is ideal. (See travel page) You can also fly into the Portland Airport or tiny Owls Head airport and have a taxi booked to one of the boat lines. It can be tricky, but we can do our best to help!

Alternatively you might make reservations at The Island Inn (https://islandinnmonhegan.com/), Monhegan House (https://www.monheganhouse.com Shining Sails bed and breakfast (https://shiningsails.com/), and Hitchcock House (https://hitchcockhouse.com/reservations-and-rates/) if you are staying for just the weekend. If you would like to stay for the week there are houses on the island that book mostly Saturday to Saturday. Shining Sails (https://resnexus.com/resnexus/reservations/book/C5EC7ECE-B818-4708-AF4A-DC2724E90D25) or Brackett Rentals (http://brackettrentals.com/) are good places to find those. There are also some listings on VRBO and Airbnb.

Layers, good walking shoes, not too many electronic things, if you are not afraid of the cold a bathing suit. Cash is often useful, American Express cards do not get you very far on the island.
