Kansas City is the BBQ capital of the world. Whether this is your first time in KC or you live here, below is a list of our favorite BBQ spots:
Located in a gas station (yes, really!), Joe's is world-renowned for its burnt ends and Z Man sandwich! It's on Anthony Bourdain's "13 Places to Eat Before You Die" list and rightfully so.
Tip: The line to get food starts early, so we recommend getting there around 11:00 AM - you can also call in an order in advance to pick up.
You can smell Gates' smoker from down the street. The "beef on a bun" is unbelievable and be sure to get a side of fries with a mug of beer for $1.99.
Tip: The Extra Hot BBQ sauce is a must-try!
Jack Stack is a "fancier" BBQ experience - meaning it's a sit down restaurant. There are 5 locations around KC, including on the Plaza! Their food is our go to for Chiefs Sundays!
Tip: The Cheesy Corn is a must-have. You can even find it at certain Costcos now!
Rosedale BBQ is as authentic as it gets and is less famous than some of the other options we listed, but it is one of our favorites!
Tip: Make sure to get the fries and onion rings!
If you are looking for an old-school gritty BBQ experience for lunch, Arthur Bryant's is your spot. Barack Obama and John McCain both stopped here for lunch on their 2008 presidential campaigns.
Tip: They have nationwide shipping if you find yourself thinking about their ribs after the wedding.
A fork and knife BBQ experience, Q39 is a great bbq restaurant to sit back, enjoy some BBQ, beers, and catch a game.
Tip: Their apple slaw is a game changer.
Located right on the Plaza, Gram and Dun has been our go-to date spot for years! They have an amazing patio with fire pits where you can sit back and enjoy a delicious meal or drinks!
A Michael Smith restaurant located in the Crossroads area, Farina has quickly become one of our favorite restaurants in the world. The cocktails are crafted perfectly and the clam toast is amazing!
Delicious French bistro - we love sitting on their patio and enjoying some wine and steak frites!
Farm to Table American - diverse menu, but amazing fried chicken and the best pastries.
Classic Italian with a modern twist - homey and casual environment and delicious food.
A family favorite for many years - we love coming here for breakfast! The wait can be long but well worth it!
Classic burger joint - Maureen's spot for "last day of school" celebrations with friends in elementary school. Open 24 hours a day if you need a pick me up after our wedding celebrations.
Pro Tip: Get the 50/50 so you get to experience both fries and onion rings.
"Fast casual" for delicious salads, sandwiches, and soups.
True dive bar with incredible wings and BLTs.
For our BC guests, this combines MAs' "ambiance" with Moogy's food.
Best coffee in KC!
Aixois and Rye were both mentioned as dinner spots, but they also serve delicious brunch! Don't miss the cinnamon bun at Rye!
