Our venue is Horning's Hideout in North Plains, OR, which is about a 40 minute drive from downtown Portland. Everyone is invited to group camp with us at the venue on the night of the wedding. If you're interested, you'll need to bring your own camping gear - check out <a href="https://mountainshop.net/rentals/camping-backpacking.html" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Mountain Shop</a> for rentals. If you aren't interested in camping, or need a place to stay before or after the wedding, check out the following recommendations.

General Recommendations

If you are looking for one hotel to stay in the whole time, we recommend looking in Beaverton. This is about halfway between our venue and Portland and has a small downtown area with lots of dining. If you want to be as close to our venue as possible, look for hotels in Hillsboro or Airbnbs in North Plains. If you would like to experience more of quintessential Portland, we recommend staying in Northwest District, Hawthorne/Kerns/Laurelhurst, or Alberta (see map below). We recommend against staying in Old Town.

In Northwest District of Portland, near 21st and 23rd avenue. Good for walking to restaurants, bars, and shopping and near but not in downtown Portland. Also very close to Forest Park (amazing nature!).

Cool, trendy hotel on the east side of Portland

Jupiter Hotel Portland

Trendy hostel on the East side of Portland with a rooftop that has brunch!

Lolo Pass

In Hillsboro, OR, a suburb closer to our venue. McMenamin's are a local chain of hotels/restaurants with character. The rooms are funky, have interesting history, and there is always at least one restaurant and bar on site.

Another great bonus to coming to our wedding is you get to see the Pacific Northwest at one of the most wonderful times of the year :) Here are a few recommendations of what to do in your free time.

Oregon Wine Country

Oregon has some amazing vineyards and the Willamette Valley is known in particular for its Pinot Noirs! Head southwest to Newberg, Dundee, and McMinnville for cute towns and fancy vineyards. Some of our favorite vineyards: Stoller, Bjornson, and Abbey Road

Oregon Coast

Oregon has some gorgeous cold and rocky coastline. Explore the tide pools and feel the power of the Pacific ocean. Check out Cannon Beach, Newport, and anywhere in between. Stop by the Tillamook Cheese Factory on the way.

Columbia River Gorge

Waterfalls galore! See the famous Multnomah Falls and many more gorgeous waterfalls along the way! Make your way to Hood River to watch kite surfing and drink tasty beer.

Portland Neighborhoods

Portland has lots of amazing food (restaurants and many food trucks), fun shops (think trinkets and vintage clothes), and beautiful neighborhoods to stroll around. Great strips to walk along include NW 21st and 23rd street, Alberta, Hawthrone, East Burnside, and Division.

Forest Park

Just outside of Portland is Forest Park, which is a large area with lots of beautiful nature. You'll be in Portland, a.k.a. The City of Roses, during June which is peak rose time! Check out the International Rose Test Garden within Forest Park to see hundreds of varieties of blooming roses and its FREE! Also check out free nature trails and parks or the Japanese Gardens (paid admission for this one).
