Explore the history of film at this local mansion. Maya especially likes the period piece rooms and dreams of having her own mansion someday. Marcus would like a smaller house and lots of bikes. They will find a compromise. Hop on Zillow and be shocked at how affordable Rochester real estate is. There are many reasons the newlyweds want to stick around.
Escape the cold in the butterfly garden and see the toy hall of fame. Great place for kids (and kids at heart) to play and pretend.
Enjoy one of the local breweries in Rochester with an incredible view of High Falls and the city skyline. The gift shop is a great place to pick up Rochester souvenirs. You may see some of the beer at the reception later on.
Great beer, coffee and brand new and delicious menu thanks to the new head chef, who is a close friend of the bride and groom.
Rochester is home of the "Garbage Plate" and Nick Tahou's is the original. Other restaurants have their own unique take on "the plate" including: Dog Town, Red Fern (vegetarian/vegan), Kocina (sushi plate). This is something most Rochesterians are very proud of, Maya is not one of them. But, Marcus recommends for the full Rochester experience.
This street is home to some of Rochester's most loved small businesses, coffee shops, and restaurants. Take a stroll and explore. A few recommendations are:
Glen Edith Coffee
Stever's Chocolates (homemade candy)
Roam Cafe (a date night favorite)
Magnolia's (Obama ate here when he was in town)
Park Leigh (for unique gifts and knickknacks)
Walk up to the reservoir to see a great view of Rochester.
Cemeteries don't have to be creepy and morbid. This is where Maya and her sisters grew up taking walks and playing with their family. Frederick Douglass and Susan B Anthony both have gravestones on the premises and across the street is Highland Park, which is great to walk around and visit the sunken gardens.
