Our story....where to start?

How we met? When I realized Mayda was someone different than anyone I'd ever known before? The first time we said, "I love you."?

If you're reading this you probably know 'our story'. You played a part in it. You watched us grow together. Maybe you were there when I met Fern for the first time or a few years ago heard from Mayda or from me that, "Yeah, I really like (him/her)."

Our story started with tacos, with easy conversation and bonding over a love of reading, exploring, eating and drinking. Even so, she almost ended it there when she found out I didn't drink coffee in the morning and didn't care for wine. One of those things has changed. She's still working on the wine.

Years after we ended that first date at Wild Detectives in Dallas, I coaxed her back in, during the pandemic and just before a catastrophic winter storm. I knew she'd say yes to my proposal, but that didn't make me any less nervous. She agreed, and we celebrated with a glass of champagne, surrounded by loved ones. Of course, we followed it up with a trip to try a new taqueria.

This story has taken us through the most joyful of moments and the biggest of challenges, but at a certain point we both realized we wouldn't want to have those feelings without the other there to share them with.

And now it's come to this point, to the point where we get to celebrate committing to doing this forever. Where we can have a joyful moment with you. Of course there will be plenty of tacos and toasts to go around.

We can't wait to have you. Our story is only just beginning.
