Our Story

How We Met...

Picture of How We Met...

His Version:

McKenzie and I met at Utica College, while in an undergraduate class.

I was nervous and used every excuse in the book to talk to her and spend time with her. We lived in the same dorm and had some mutual friends so we got to know each other over the course of a couple months. Our first date was to a UC hockey game!

McKenzie would come to all of my football games when we were seniors (even though she didn’t know a thing about football) and be there to support me. I would go home to Old Forge with her and see how she grew up.

Eventually we became a couple and started meeting each other’s families, and joining each other’s friend groups.

We spent all of our free time together, getting to know each other more and more.

The more I got to know McKenzie, the more I knew we would spend our life together. She and I are very similar people, high energy and always ready for the next adventure.

We fell in love and the rest is history. She makes me happier each day and is always there for me.

McKenzie, I love you, and I’m beyond excited to build a life with you.

Her version:

We met in our junior year college dorm. Greg star wide receiver of the Utica College football team, McKenzie not knowing whether or not a “wide receiver” threw the football or tackled other guys to the ground... She figured it out shortly after their first encounter with a quick phone call to her dad! “They catch the football McKenzie, he scores touchdowns!” Turns out McKenzie was just too smitten to notice he was catching the ball, and the rest is history.

We got to know each other in passing at that dorm. Then lunch in the cafeteria, study dates at the library, and going to hockey games together. We went on to finishing grad school, supporting each other through some of the toughest years of our lives so far, and succeeded with a masters and doctorate degree. We share a love of family and friends, the outdoors, our dog Bogey and adventure. We love to laugh, eat good food, drink good beer and wine, play cards, and be in each other’s company.

Greg proposed on a Sunday evening in the most perfect, serene sunset setting. A total surprise, the best surprise. And of course I said yes to spending forever with my best friend, the love of my life.
