As restrictions eased in January 2021, Darrell and Meagan began exploring restaurants and attractions across the DMV area. A particular favorite was Ocean Prime in Washington, DC. On May 12, 2023, against the backdrop of a setting sun and a gentle breeze along the Anacostia River, Darrell proposed to Meagan by the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in the Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington, DC. He knelt with a heart brimming with love and hope, and Meagan joyfully accepted his proposal. This moment marked the formal beginning of their path to marriage.
