In the late summer/early fall of 2020, as the world was at a standstill due to the pandemic, Meagan and Darrell enjoyed their first date. With conventional meeting spots closed, they found joy and connection in the cozy confines of Meagan’s apartment. They spent hours sharing stories, aspirations, and laughter, building the groundwork for a deep and enduring relationship.
As restrictions eased in January 2021, Darrell and Meagan began exploring restaurants and attractions across the DMV area. A particular favorite was Ocean Prime in Washington, DC. Over the months, their connection deepened, and their time spent apart grew less frequent as they were naturally drawn to each other’s company.
With each passing month, their relationship flourished, culminating in a natural progression towards commitment. They embraced each other's families across various states, weaving themselves seamlessly into the fabric of each other's lives.
On May 12, 2023, against the backdrop of a setting sun and a gentle breeze along the Anacostia River, Darrell proposed to Meagan by the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge in the Navy Yard neighborhood of Washington, DC. He knelt with a heart brimming with love and hope, and Meagan joyfully accepted his proposal. This moment marked the formal beginning of their path to marriage. Their engagement received a flood of love and support from friends and family, reinforcing the strength of their bond and their future together.
