RSVPs and the guest list
Can I bring a plus one?
Sadly, no, our guest list has to be very limited. We love you all and your loved ones, but we can only accommodate those who are specifically named on the invitations.
How should I RSVP?
You can RSVP here on the website, or since this is really small, you can just text us and we'll keep track. Whatever works!
We request that you RSVP by August 27, 2025.
getting there
Are there any accessibility concerns we should be aware of?
Lowell Observatory is located on a hill, so some of the paths up from the parking lot may be steeper than others. The Clark Dome should be accessible, but the observatory's visitor services staff can provide assistance as needed. The Weatherford doesn't have an elevator, unfortunately, and the reception space is up one flight of stairs. If you are staying at the Weatherford, there is only one guest room on the ground floor of the building.
How should I deal with the altitude?
The city of Flagstaff sits 7,000 ft. (2,100 m.) above sea level, so be prepared to take care of yourself. That's fairly low as far as "high altitude" goes, but for our New Englanders, that's like if there was a city at the summit of Mt. Washington! Pace yourself and avoid strenuous exercise right away. Stay hydrated and take breaks. Alcohol and other substances may hit you harder at this altitude, so be mindful of your limits.
What is the parking situation like?
Lowell Observatory has a parking lot, and there's an inexpensive public parking garage right next to the Weatherford Hotel.
Do we have to worry about the weather?
Not really! Both the ceremony and reception will be indoors, though clear skies will be best for full enjoyment of the observatory. Flagstaff weather should be mild, with the monsoon season having ended and temperatures in the 50s-70s Fahrenheit (10-26 Celsius). It's the desert, so be prepared for the temperature to drop a bit at night.
dress code
What should I wear?
Cocktail or semi-formal attire is requested. Wear whatever colors you want (though our colors will be dark green and cream if you want in on that), and we're not fussy about specific styles. Please no jeans, though.
Food and Drink
Will there be options for guests with dietary restrictions or allergies?
Yes, of course! There will be vegetarian options and gluten free options available and any accommodations can be made upon request. Just let us know what you need to be safe and happy and we'll pass it along to the Weatherford.
Will there be an open bar?
To a point. The first $500 of alcoholic beverages will be on us (a couple drinks per person). Beyond that, if we go really nuts, the hotel bars take cash and card.
itinerary
What should I do about gifts?
Seriously, nothing. Your presence on this trip is the greatest gift you can give us. If you would like to give something, please don't bring a packaged gift with you; having something mailed to our home in Salem would be easiest. We'll have a box for cards at the reception.
What time should I arrive?
Please plan to arrive at Lowell Observatory and seated in the Clark Dome between 4 and 4:30 PM.
What time does the reception end?
We have exclusive use of the ballroom until 10 PM. If the party is still rolling, we can drift out into the hotel bars until they close.
Are there any other wedding events that weekend?
We do have a couple of totally optional activities in mind! The night before the wedding (Friday the 26th), we all have free admission to the observatory. Explore the campus! Do some stargazing! The day after the wedding (Sunday the 28th), we'd like to take a day trip up to the south rim of the Grand Canyon with anyone who'd like to join us.
Am I allowed to take photos?
Yes, absolutely! We'd love to see what the day looked like from your perspective! We're not going in an "unplugged" direction with this. Do what you want.
