There is so much to do around Lake Tahoe. Hike, camp, swim, boat, kayak, etc. If you need or want recommendations from us about what we try to do/enjoy the most, just email/text us and we can tell you what we have done.
Mt Rose is the also the name of the main highway that takes you to Tahoe from Reno and that the wedding venue is located on. There are LOTS of hiking spots and camping spots around here. Also lots of picturesque spots along the main highway for stopping and taking photos or just enjoying the views.
You can go river floating down this river if its not too high (depends on winter snow). There are also lots of trails to walk/bike along the river as well as hiking/camping. This river starts at Lake Tahoe and runs all the way through downtown Reno and then continues on.
Lots of restaurants and things to do in the downtown area. The Truckee River passes through the city and they usually have cool events going on.
Hot August Nights is a Classic Car Show that happens every August in Reno. You will see LOTS of classic cars driving around in the area, and this is why. If you are really into old cars or even if you aren't, this is a cool event to go to and experience.
If you are really up for an adventure while you're here on the West Coast, Mammoth is less than 3 hours away. They have the coolest lodges, hiking, summer sports, and soooo much more. Check it out if you are looking for another spot to explore!
Heavenly Mountain Resort has a mountain coaster with great views of Lake Tahoe. They also have a zip-line and a few other outdoor activities that are really fun.
Squaw is a BEAUTIFUL resort where they have, again, all sorts of outdoor sports. Hiking, biking, golfing, etc. Olympic Valley near/in Squaw is where they hosted the winter olympics in 1960.
Northstar has a very cool downhill mountain biking course. You take ski lift up (your bike goes up separately) and then you get to ride down dirt trails that have jumps, turns, bridges, etc. The courses are tough, but really fun and worth the time if you like mountain biking!
Kirkwood is another mountain resort with hiking and mountain biking as well as Disc Golf!! They also have a small lake nearby that is popular for kayaking and paddle boarding.
