Our journey began over five years ago when we met as freshmen in September 2018 at Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts. Much of our early time together was spent hanging out with other freshmen who quickly formed a friend group. Soon, we felt an attraction to each other, and we enjoyed off-campus trips that included visits with dogs at a local pet store, late-night hunger runs to McDonald's and Sonic, and coffee stops at Starbucks, DD, and Atomic Cafe.
One of our favorite on-campus pastimes was relaxing in a hammock together, hung from trees on the campus quad. When we decided to be boyfriend/girlfriend, our new relationship wasn't immune from childish social drama on campus, which took its toll on us from time to time. When the world shut down (including our college) because of the Covid pandemic in spring 2020, during our sophomore year, Megan moved back home, and Jason lived with Megan and her family since he was unable to return home to Taiwan.
Due to the pandemic and basically being isolated day after day in the same house without being able to go anywhere, it became a challenging situation for all. When we were allowed to return to school for the spring semester of our junior year, in 2021, we took time away from each other. This was a time of great personal growth and maturity for each of us as well as a time of reflection.
In July 2021, Megan invited Jason to go to Canobie Lake Park, and they had a fun day together. This was our first time hanging out since returning to school early in 2021. This was the summer before senior year of college. Jason helped Megan move into her apartment senior year, but it was several months before we regularly began hanging out again, often with other mutual friends.
Before long, we realized we were better together than apart, and the maturity and personal growth we each experienced during our time apart was a blessing to our renewed commitment to each other. Since being firmly back together and in love, some of our more adventurous activities have included skydiving, running in the Rugged Maniac Obstacle Race, a Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas, Cozumel, Mexico, and Grand Cayman Island, and our Taiwan trip, which was Megan's first trip to Taiwan.
We officially committed our future to each other on December 10, 2023, when we got engaged at the Portland Head Lighthouse in Maine. We can't wait to continue our journey together as husband and wife!
