The Story of Our Love

Citylight Bennington 

Citylight Bennington church is where Megan and Vaughn met, work, and fell in love. Citylight Bennington has worship services at The Barn at the Ackerhurst Dairy Farm. It's also where Vaughn proposed to Megan and where the couple's wedding ceremony will be held!

July 2020

Megan and Vaughn met in July 2020 after starting at Citylight Bennington. Vaughn came on staff early July from Flywheel, a growing tech company in town. After being called by the Lord and a conversation with the pastors, Vaughn faithfully decided to be the Student Ministry Director for Citylight Bennington. Megan came from Seim Johnson, a public accounting firm in Omaha, working as a healthcare consultant. The pastors reached out to her at the perfect timing as they were looking for someone to run the show as the all-in-one Admin/HR/Finance Director for the church. After time in prayer with the Lord, Megan hopped on staff too.

September 2020

September was a big month for Megan and Vaughn. That's when they had their first date and started to get to know each other more. From the get-go the couple were very intentional, open, and honest to each other. Everything started with their relationship with Jesus first. Prayer was (and is) huge for the foundation of the couple. They knew that if God was leading them to dating, it would lead to marriage, so they trusted in the plan that the Lord had for their relationship.

October 2020

After a very important couple of months getting to know each other and discern God's will for the couple, Megan and Vaughn officially became a couple on October 21st. The next step was to spend more time with family, friends and most importantly the Lord, to see where He would take this relationship, but they knew they wanted to spend forever together.

January 2021

After the last few months of dating, spending time with family/friends and most importantly praying and discerning God's will for the couple, He gave them tons of "green lights." Vaughn surprised Megan on January 10th, her 24th birthday, by proposing after Citylight Bennington's public launch at The Barn. The couple decided on May 14th for their wedding date!

Things to Do

Rich and Vaughn met at an early age of 14 and 15. Their friendship sparked after Vaughn made a slightly inappropriate joke at Robotics club. Since then they played ultimate frisbee together, worked together,  went on double dates and have always kept in touch.

Richard Nguyen

Clayton spent his whole life in Lincoln, until he moved to Omaha to go to college at UNO in 2014. He met Vaughn on campus in 2016 and they became great friends over the last couple of years. They are always up to something- wether it’s playing basketball, working on their podcast, or studying scripture together!

Seth grew up in Omaha and met Vaughn through Citylight Church's college ministry. He and Vaughn have become good friends over the past few years and love meeting up for some good food and life-giving conversation. Seth loves memes almost as much as Jesus, and is stoked for Vaughn and Megan's big day! LET'S GOOO

Seth Minturn

Andy and Vaughn became friends during a bible study in college, fostered that friendship at Citylight church, and have grown in friendship through frisbee, basketball, raising canes, and hot tubbing! Both share an interest in God's word, sports, and delicious food.

Andrew Wicks

Tommy grew up in Omaha and currently works at Sandhills Global. He and Vaughn met through mutual friends in college during welcome week sophomore year. They were roommates for a year and have been close ever since! He invited Vaughn to Citylight where he eventually came to know the Lord. Similar interests includes studying God's word, attending Creighton games and cooking for themselves or others! He's excited for Megan and Vaughn's big day!!

Tommy Stoller

Megan and Jess met freshmen year of college as roommates and have been roommates 5 out of the last 6 years. Jess loves traveling, being with family & friends, music concerts and trying new foods. Jess is also a 6th grade English teacher at Alfonza W. Davis middle school. She's pumped for Vaughn and Megan's wedding!

Jessica Schaecher

Kaylyn and Megan have been good friends all throughout grade school (as they were the only two in their class). Initially the two thought they'd marry the Jonas Brothers, but now are both getting married this year! Fun facts: Kaylyn is a cardiac nurse in Lincoln, she loves going to the lake and concerts!

Maddy grew up in Orlando, Florida finishing up her masters studies of criminal justice and social work this December. Her and Megan have known each other over the past few years and have recently been growing closer in their relationship with Christ. She has loved seeing Megan and Vaughn's relationship grow and can't wait to see what the future holds! "Cheers with a shot of tequila!"

Maddy Meuret

Anne and Megan met at summer camp back in 2014 in which they became good friends. They used to create mix tapes for one another. A few songs that make Anne think of Megan are "Baby Got Back" or "The Party's Just Begun". Both were in Chi Omega in Lincoln together and one of Anne's favorite songs to dance to is "Yeah!" by Usher!
