Our Wedding

Our Story “You were worth the wait.”These five words capture the heart of our story — one written by faith, filled with love, and worth every step along the way. We both deeply longed to find the right person — someone to share life, faith, and forever with. In October 2022, God brought us together through a Christian dating site.From the very first messages, something felt different — easy, genuine, and full of possibility. Our first date was on 29th October 2022 at Clumber Park. Over coffees, toasties, and two long walks (because one just wasn’t enough!), we talked for hours, completely at ease. That day was the beginning of something special. Andy patiently walked alongside Megan — both literally and figuratively — as we took time to truly enjoy getting to know one another over the next few months. As the months passed, our connection only deepened. Andy knew it was love when Megan surprised him after her&nbsp;trip to Copenhagen, showing up as a surprise and announcing jokingly, “I've decided I don’t need to be single anymore”. After Andy asked her to repeat it, they became official that night.Megan knew it was love too, when she realised how Andy’s calm and steady presence brought peace to her life and felt that together their opposites became strengths, making them into the best versions of themselves together. We’ve shared countless little joys — sunset walks, log cabins, fireside chats, board games, films, and simply spending time together. But this love wasn’t always easy. We weathered long distance, clashing work schedules, and lots of endless night shifts on Meg's side. Yet through it all, our desire to build a life together never wavered. On Saturday 22nd June 2024, in a moment that still feels like a dream, Andy got down on one knee and said&nbsp;a quote out of one of Meg's favourite movies and a beautiful way they both felt described love and fighting for each other in every season of life -“I guarantee that we'll have tough times, and I guarantee that at some point, one or both of us will want to get out. But I also guarantee that if I don't ask you to be mine, I'll regret it for the rest of my life, because I know, in my heart, you're the only one for me.Megan Elizabeth Rumens — Will you marry me?”💍The answer was the easiest and most joy-filled yes of Megan’s life. That day marked not just a proposal, but the fulfilment of years of waiting, praying, and trusting God. Every hope, every whispered prayer — answered in one beautifully surprising, deeply personal moment and a true miracle. On 23rd July 2024, Andy made the big move to Nottinghamshire, and though life since then has been very full on and at times overwhelming, God has been faithful every step of the way. With faith at the centre and love leading the way,&nbsp;we’re counting down the days until3rd August 2025, when we finally get to say “I do” and become Mr &amp; Mrs Martin!! 🤍Surrounded by the people who have loved and supported us through it all. We can’t wait to celebrate with you.Because our love really was worth the wait!!! ❤️

Lucy is Megan's Best friend - meeting each other in year two of primary school in Scotland.
Lucy fiercely loves like no other, she always comes up with the most thoughtful ideas and she has the biggest heart ever. 
Megan is also know as Auntie Megan to her gorgeous boy George.

Katie is Megan's younger sister. My sister is the one person in life who truly knows me. It's true when they say "Sisters make the best friends in the world!"
Although they are literally like chalk & cheese, there's no one Megan is more proud to call her little sister and rock in life.
I wouldn't be anywhere without her!

Lydia is basically family to Megan, they grew up together and their families lived next door to each other as they grew up. Throughout life they have always been there for each other. Prayed with each other in each new season. They share such a special friendship and love for Jesus together.

Esther and Megan met as teenagers at church. From Christian camping, to going abroad together for their first holiday by themselves, to annual challenges together.
They have shared so many seasons of life together.

Charlotte and Megan trained together to become nurses. They've shared so many different new seasons of life together and Megan is also known as Auntie Megan and Godmother to Charlotte's two beautiful little boys Henry & George.

Amanda and Megan also met in year two of primary school in Scotland. Amanda and Megan always find something new to talk about and treasure their very special relationship together; along with a cheeky cocktail & selfie along the way.

Leah & Megan met as teenagers when they both worked together at Mcdonald's before they left home to become nurses. Leah and Megan share a special friendship and Megan is also known as Auntie Megan to her beautiful two little ones Thea & Louie.

Terry is Andy's older brother.
Life long friend and Tech guru Terry has helped Andy through everything.  Always willing to learn any new card game Andy wants to play and in return Andy has dragged Terry up some of the highest peaks in the UK.

Sam is Megan's younger brother. 
Andy quickly became the brother Sam always dreamed of. They've shared many evenings together quoting Lord of the Rings and both enjoy watching the F1 together while competing in the F1 Fantasy League. Just don't ask Andy who is winning this year...

Andy's oldest friend.
Despite living 250 miles apart, Andy and Craig formed a strong friendship lasting over 25 years. Having met through Church as Andy visited his Grandma in Scotland they stayed in touch over Xbox live. Spending almost every evening travelling the world together, albeit through countless games in the comfort of their bedrooms. While time to play online together now rarely happens they have both remained close throughout the years.

Andy's high school friend. 
Having never lost contact and being Andy's most adventurous friend, they have shared in many trips together up and down mountains. Their most recent ending in them both running up Ben Nevis together. 
It also turned out Megan happened to know Ben indirectly after following his Country playlist on Spotify well before Andy turned up on the scene.

Alex & Andy met during teacher training and formed a close friendship working in the same school together. All while convincing the students they were brothers despite different last names. With a shared love of walking and pub crawls Andy and Alex have remained close as their careers took them to different schools.

Husband to Bridesmaid Lydia.
Andy met Kgosi through Megs.  However, that wasn't there only link, when they were surprised to find out, that Kgosi was the rugby coach to many of Andy's students.
Since then growing close due to their shared love of films.

Megan's lad best friend -    Meeting each other during a church event as young teenagers. Friends throughout all the different of seasons of life. Even though Alex travels for work & between the both of their shifts patterns, they are pretty much on opposite time zones half of the time 😂 Nevertheless Alex has been such an amazing friend, support and one of Meg's truest friends. When Andy first met Alex, he found another common link having realised he had been going to a church youth group just next door to Alex's childhood home for a number of years.

Parking is available at the venue.Vehicles must be collected by 10 am the following day.

Road Closure Update

We have just been informed of the following Road closure during the night of the wedding. For evening guests arriving and for all guests leaving at the end of the night. We have been informed this week that the A616, the road used to access the venue, is scheduled to be closed during the evening of our wedding. The venue has been in contact with the contractors to ensure access is still given to all guests entering and exiting the venue however this must all be done through the East end of the Road (Budby end, connecting to Netherfield Lane, Worksop Road and the B6034 ).&nbsp;There will be 'Road Closed' signs in place for the duration of the evening. The road closure will be manned and will allow traffic through for access to Hazel Gap Barn. This means that when arriving you will need to speak to the person at the road closure and tell them that you are going to Hazel Gap Barn and they will allow you access through.When leaving the venue all guests will have to turn left to exit as the road works will have begun at the Cuckney end of the A616. The image below shows the quickest alternative route back to the A60 should you need to head in that direction. We have already spoken to all the local taxi companies and they already aware of this and this will be no issues for them. Also can we now remind you all that taxi’s will need to be pre-booked please, see transport page on our website for further details.
