Our Story began in 2013, when we met through City High Marching Band where Megan played clarinet and Wade played bass trombone. Megan officially caught Wade’s eye the next Spring during their Wind Ensemble Concert, but it wasn’t until the next Fall that he decided to introduce himself while waiting for a ride. They started hanging out with a group of friends where they learned about each other’s interests and enjoyed each other’s company.

After a Spring Break trip to Disney World, Wade decided to ask Megan to Prom. His proposal was very creative as he turned classical music sheets into origami to lead Megan to him where he held a hand-calligraphied sign with flowers asking her to Prom. The weekend after Prom was their first date with dinner and a movie. They have been together ever since that time.

Through the years, they continued their many adventures together in high school, college and post-college.

Their favorite highlights include bowl trips with the Hawkeye Marching Band. When the Hawkeyes went to the Pinstripe Bowl, Wade surprised Megan with tickets to the Rockettes. They enjoy attending sporting events, concerts, and frequent study dates with stops at Oasis.

Wade’s proposal was unique and recreated one of their first dates together. In their younger dating years, Megan took Wade to Wilson’s Apple Orchard for his birthday and hand-painted a card with an apple for him. He never forgot this moment and decided to theme his engagement proposal around their many trips to the orchard through the years. Although it was hard to keep it a secret, Wade arranged for a photographer to capture pictures of the proposal. Wade read this very first card from Megan to her and then dropped to one knee to ask her to marry him.

The rest is history as she, of course, said yes!
