62 Days To Go!

Our story involves a lot of rocks.

The first rock came out of desperation on our first date when I couldn’t find a place for a picnic. Here was the problem though; New York is a terrible place for picnics. Restaurants? Yes. Patches of grass to eat cute charcuterie boards of meats and cheeses? No. The closest thing to a grassy knoll my neighborhood had was a cemetery. (Date #4 coincidentally)

We drove for a while until we came across a boulder in Washington Heights that overlooked the city. With a portable radio and a couple of seltzers we sat on that cold hard rock and mapped out what would become the rest of our lives. That was the beginning of us.

After our first rock, I began finding rocks all over the place. Presents of pebbles in tiny bottles with even tinier notes would be tucked away into all the nooks of my Manhattan apartment. Weekends with Dave were like that. The next few months were a whirlwind of climbing rocks and eating dumplings as we spent our weekends rocking back and forth from the Palisades to the Pines.

We were in New York when news of the Pandemic hit. At that point two weeks in the woods sounded nice, so I packed up my bags and through the tunnel we went. There is a lot of privilege in being able to say that the Pandemic, for all its heartache and uncertainty was a special time. We skipped rocks and made art and fell in love in a way that made living through a global health emergency not so scary.

Two weeks have turned into five years, and we are still collecting rocks in the Garden State. These days it’s the rock tees that lead us to musty basements out in the woods, while it’s the rock bands that lead us to musty bars out near the shore. With our vintage resell business and Dave’s music we are lucky to be living out our art and creating something entirely new together.

If you found your way to this website then you already know that Dave will be putting a rock on my finger soon. We are grateful for the opportunity to express our love in such an open and authentic way. We are grateful to capture that moment with you.

It’s here that I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place-do I try and squeeze in one more rock example or do I just end our story here?

Neither. I’m going pivot into rock puns now and just say without getting too sediment-al that it would be really gneiss to see y’all in July, ok?
