Curt and I met when he came in for an interview at Lone Star, the restaurant where I worked in downtown Ottawa. The other manager was busy at the time so I ended up interviewing him. I immediately recognized his last name and quickly made the connection to his sister, whom I had taught dance to a few years prior. Somehow Curt talked his way through the interview and we ended up hiring him on as a bus boy. Every shift Curt would consistently try to distract me by talking about the Bachelor show whenever he would waltz into work 15 min late.
Toward the end of his short 8 month career at Lone Star, Curt had another server ask me to drive him home one night (since he was too nervous to!) All the staff were going out for some drinks after work, but Curt stayed to wait for me to close up the restaurant before we went to the bar.
He quit soon after but I decided to bring him as my plus one to the Christmas party. We spent a lot of time together that Christmas, and started officially dating in early January of 2013!
Meg and I met each other when she interviewed me at Lone Star. I still remember sitting on the patio at Lone Star on a glorious summer day with my buddies and looking at them and telling them I was going to go get a job. So, I stood up and went in and talked to the manager who booked me for an interview a few days later. Little did I know that the interview would be with Meg. Half an hour after the interview, I had walked out with the job and the girl (well not yet haha). I do remember telling my buddies at that time that I was I going to date my manager.
So, one night in the summer, we all went to Paddy Boland’s as we did every Wednesday night. Meg came along that time, and I remember one of the kitchen guys (Darryl) bugging me to make a move. So, I asked Meg to drive me home and honest to God, did not think of the problem of her having my car until we were quite close to the house. So, I told Meg she could take the car with her and I could get it in the morning but she opted to come inside instead and I remember staying up all night chatting and watching the NFL network.
I remember staying at Meg’s house at Christmas time but I was super sick with the flu. We were standing at the door, and I was meeting her brother for the first time. Next thing I know I had passed out on the floor and Parker was grabbing me water – great first impression!! Clearly that didn’t have too much of an influence as fast forward 10 years and here we are today in Mexico celebrating with all you awesome people!!
