Officially, we first met at Las Cazuelas in Austin on October 16, 2012...but my first picture of Meg is from the morning after the worst day on a bicycle I bet we've both ever had, riding from San Marcos, TX to Blanco in 33 degree pouring rain over 50+ miles of Texas hill country with Bikes Across Borders. Our group was saved and slept in a barn on a flower farm. The next morning, we dried our clothes in town and warmed up.

The following April, after pedicabbing SXSW, Mike organized a bike camping trip to Krause Springs, and Meg was among the invitees. Nearly at their destination, Meg sat across the table at a lunch stop and asked "Mike, what are you up to this summer?" and Mike said something along the lines of "I dunno, pedicabbing?" And then, Meg inquired, "Do you wanna bike down the west coast with me?" This is us, bikes reassembled, in the Seattle airport at the beginning of that journey. Mike obviously said "Uhhh, ummm, probably!" and then two days later emailed to let her know he'd packed up his life and was ready to ride.

After watching the sun set over the Pacific a thousand feet below our coastal campsite, Meg said "I've been thinking about kissing you."
"Me too," Mike replied.

Shorts, t-shirts, and laying in the grass reading a book on the hippie blanket at Blues on the Green. Such was the life in Austin.

Meg pestered Mike to get a dog for what felt like forever to him. But Mike was used to staying out all night or simply leaving town for Mexico or Kerville on a whim, never mind having to be home twice a day. But soon enough, Mike made one of the best decisions of his life, and relented. We brought Mabel home shortly after Meg met her future in-laws for the first time.

Soon enough, Mike convinced Meg that toting around trash on a golf cart in trade for sweet, sweet jams and terrible sleep was worth it.

Somewhere along the way, Mike also convinced Meg to drive down to Mexico to go climbing in El Petrero Chico for New Year's Eve. This is us on the second pitch of a spire.

That moment when you commit to getting rid of most of your stuff to living in the 21-foot shuttle bus you just bought.

When the radiator cracked open in Shenandoah, we decided it was time to pause...and that pause turned into us moving to Connecticut!
October 13, 2019
It's pretty nice up here.
March 11, 2021
So we decided to stay a while and bought a house. It's an old, weird, cool house with lots of hidden "features"...such as this random hole!

There's even a little folk festival that happens in a park down the street from our house every year.

This is Stella. She showed up in a taxi and immediately pooped on the carpet, but we decided to keep her anyway. Look at that face!

The whole fam!
February 11, 2023
As far as Mike knew, Meg was just really excited to go on the IRIS Run for Refugees.

But as we came upon this cheering crowd, Mike turned to Meg and said "Oh look, someone wants to marry a Mike!" in complete seriousness. (Mike obviously said yes.)
