Our Wedding

The year was 2021, the place: Crown Heights Brooklyn. A lonely NYU grad student trudged 70 minutes on the AC line but had a good feeling about his hinge match. Meanwhile, on Dean Street, a young woman contemplated standing up said eager young man. Who could trust someone who listed their celebrity crush as "Angela Merkel"? With some roommate encouragement she made the daunting 8 minute walk and the night went....well enough for a second date. Jack was ready to lock her up right then, Meg wouldn't be ready until she could confirm Jack was not a serial killer. Jack tried his best to hide his desperation but it would take 6 dates before Meg learned truly how far Jack had been commuting-- subway transfers are known as relationship killers in the city that never sleeps. But 4 years later, here we are. From the Big Apple, to Chocolate City, and now to Mexico, Jack and Meg have been deeply in love and annoying each other the whole way and apparently want to continue doing so for eternity. So, let's celebrate! The date is set, cobblestone streets quietly await, playlists are in the making, and mariachis' are tuning their guitarron's. All that's left is...YOU!&nbsp;We would be thrilled if you could make the long journey to San Miguel de Allende to celebrate with us. We know it's not convenient but the best things in life can be hard to reach and we think you'll fall in love with this little corner of Mexico.

Transportation

This is the hardest part for all of the guests, we know that and we appreciate it. SMA is not the easiest place to get to, nor the cheapest. Below we have provided details and a shared cost shuttle we will be facilitating out of the hope of making your trip a bit easier and a bit less daunting. For your reference, the groom, the bride, and a lot of our family members will be getting into SMA Wednesday evening and the wedding parties will be there by Thursday night.

Getting Here

There are a lot of options to get to SMA because it is near a lot of airports and the highways getting into town are safe and very well maintained. Our main recommendations are to fly into Queretaro Airport (QRO) or Mexico City (MEX/NLU) on Thursday or Friday. Here are all options we could come up with. - Fly into QRO and take an Uber (top recommendation): the Uber app works great in Mexico, you do not need to deal with translations just punch in your Airbnb/hotel address and hop in. Should be between $50-100 for the ride depending on the time of day, a very pleasant 90 minute drive. Flights out of Houston, Dallas, and LAX seem to be the most frequent and affordable (or Tijuana for the adventurous Cali folk). -Fly into QRO and sign up for one of our sprinter shuttles: we are going to coordinate various sprinters from QRO throughout Thursday and Friday depending on demand and split the cost amongst the passengers. Check out the spreadsheet below, put in your details like when you arrive, and let us take care of the rest. Expect to pay $30-60 per person and a pleasant 90 minute ride. You may need to wait at the airport for a bit for the rest of the shuttle to get there or you can get a group together on the same flights!<a href="https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LSUr4TrqmAo_SIc3CtZ8ooL1YmXNYN6GGQZiiGPfP14/edit?usp=sharing" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Shared Shuttle Roster</a> - Fly into Mexico City and sign up for one of our sprinter shuttles: same details as above, we will be organizing these to depart from around the city center (around the Angel de Independencia) to help those who arrived a few days early to explore CDMX or who found a sweet cheap flight. Expect to pay $50-100 per person and a 3.5-4 hour car ride. -Rent a car: rental cars are cheap and sturdy in Mexico, the road from CDMX/QRO to SMA is very high quality. The greatest concerns would be getting lost and the crazy traffic and awful roads within CDMX. Would be a fun way to explore the countryside around SMA.

Getting Back

Getting back: Uber, our group shuttles, or taxi. Ubers aren't in as endless of a supply like in Queretaro but you should be able to schedule one ahead of time, otherwise taxis are everywhere.

AirBnB

AirBnBs in SMA are going to be a bit more expensive and less likely to have air conditioning but they are gorgeous and often times come with a cook or other services. Book early as this is during tourism season!

We just stayed here and it is lovely, perfect combination of price, quality, and sanmigueliness. Great AC and friendly staff.

- Walk around! Explore! I think you'll discover something new down each little side street and alleyway each time you walk it.- Shop!! There are amazing boutiques for clothes, jewelry, textiles, and home decor. They specialize in shipping back stateside.- Fabrica la Aurora is a textile market worth checking out- Watch the sunset from El Mirador- Book a tour to a local nearby vineyard &amp; winery or hot air balloon ride. SMA is a very touristy town so google and the vendors in the town itself make these easy to find.

Mexico City

You could spend a month in Mexico City and just scratch the surface. Best recommendations are to:-Take a taco tour (Taqueria Orinoco is our top recommendation)-Go to some of the many museums particularly Museo Anthropologico and Museo de Arte Nacional-If you are in town on a Wednesday or Sunday night catch Ballet Folklorico at Palacio de Bellas Artes, tickets available at the window or on ticketmaster (our top recommendation)-Book a day trip to the pyramid at Teotihuacan, just an hour outside of Mexico City with sunrise balloon ride offerings-Explore Roma Norte and Condesa on a shared bike aka "Ecobici"
