Driving:

From most directions, you’ll head West on US-50 until you get to Gunnison, CO, and from there, you’ll take CO-149 all the way into town.

Tips:

🚙 Download directions before heading out! Many of the paths to get into town have patchy cell service at best.

🚙 The drive into Lake City, CO is beautiful! You’ll see lakes, mountains, and valleys, but if you are prone to motion sickness, we recommend taking some medicine before the drive as the roads are winding.

We do not have a hotel block due to Lake City not having any large hotels, but below are our recommendations.

🏔️ The North Face Lodge: Relaxed lodge closest to downtown. Lucy and I stayed here when we last visited.

🏔️ Wildflower Cabins: Rustic cabins next to the downtown area.

🏔️ Bushwhack Lodge: Small hotel in town.

🏔️ Wagon Wheel Cabins: Cute cabins walking distance to downtown.

Lake City is a very small town (population < 500), so we recommend reserving a place to stay sooner rather than later, as the next town over is 1 hour away in Gunnison.
