Why Hawaii?!

Okayyy, we know what you're thinking...
Hawaii?! REALLY??&nbsp;Why in the world would they choose to get married in the&nbsp;ONE place&nbsp;furthest away from the rest of the United States?!

YES...REALLY!&nbsp;We LOVE traveling and&nbsp;our favorite vacation we have EVER had together&nbsp;was right here&nbsp;on the island of Oahu, surrounded by the sparkling waters of Waikiki Beach, stunning Diamond Head&nbsp;in the distance,&nbsp;&nbsp;mai tais&nbsp;in hand...you get the picture!
 
 If you've never been to Hawaii, we can promise you&nbsp;that you're in for a treat! The&nbsp;$900&nbsp;flight,&nbsp;12 hour travel&nbsp;day &&nbsp;6 hour time difference might not seem like it's worth it now, but Hawaii is a truly magical&nbsp;place unlike any other&nbsp;and we know once you're there it will all feel completely&nbsp;worth it. WE PROMISE!!&nbsp;We sincerely hope you make the decision to join us!
 
 If anything, do not expect a traditional wedding...We are not&nbsp;traditionalists&nbsp;so we've &nbsp;designed our&nbsp;wedding to be more like a BIG vacation&nbsp;to spend as much&nbsp;time possible&nbsp;with our guests.&nbsp;Each of the places we've chosen&nbsp;to dine at and the&nbsp;hotels we have&nbsp;suggested&nbsp;for&nbsp;accommodation&nbsp;are some of our favorite places in Waikiki. We are most&nbsp;excited to share them&nbsp;with you!&nbsp;There is so much to see and do in Oahu and across the other Hawaiian islands. WHY HAWAII?!

Important Travel Tips

TIME ZONES & FLIGHT INFORMATION First things first...note&nbsp;Hawaii's time zone! Hawaii is 3 hours ahead of Pacific&nbsp;Time, 5 hours ahead of Central&nbsp;Time & 6 hours ahead of Eastern&nbsp;Time. Although it may seem odd that our ceremony is at 8:30am in Hawaii, it's actually at 11:30am California time, 1:30pm Texas time & 2:30pm NYC time. We would recommend booking your flight as early in the morning as possible&nbsp;from your departure city because we&nbsp;guarantee you will be ready to go to sleep before sun goes&nbsp;down in Hawaii! If possible, we&nbsp;recommend flying in on Friday or&nbsp;Saturday prior to our wedding&nbsp;to get adjusted to the time change a day or two before. RENTING A CAR You do not need to rent a car during your stay in Waikiki for any of our wedding festivities. All of our events are within walking distance to each other and Uber is widely available throughout the city. Parking at the resorts&nbsp;or in a parking garage near your&nbsp;air bnb will&nbsp;typically&nbsp;cost&nbsp;$35 or more per day.&nbsp; Also note the Honolulu airport is about a 30 minutes drive from The Royal Hawaiian and around $30 or less via Uber. The great think about Waikiki is that everything is walkable and you can find pretty much anything you need within a block or two! Should you plan to drive to the North Shore before or after our wedding (and we hope you do!)&nbsp;we&nbsp;recommend that you rent a car. We would suggest spending&nbsp;at least a&nbsp;day exploring the North Shore&nbsp;if you have time! ROOM BLOCKS Please note we do not have a room block&nbsp;anywhere. We do, however, recommend staying somewhere within walking distance or Uber distance to The Royal Hawaiian. Ben and I will be staying at<a href="http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=377&amp;SWAQ=958P" target="_blank">&nbsp;</a><a href="http://www.starwoodhotels.com/sheraton/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=377&amp;SWAQ=958P" target="_blank">The Sheraton Waikiki</a>&nbsp;(our favorite hotel in Waikiki)&nbsp;Sunday and Monday night during our wedding festivities. For those who choose to stay in an air bnb or for those of you who are big snackers like we are, there are plenty of stores to purchase groceries&nbsp;nearby. There is a Walmart and Target&nbsp;located 1.5 miles from The Royal Hawaiian.&nbsp;You can also find many convenience stores close by that are open&nbsp;late. Ben and I will have tons of snack and drinks in our suite - please know they will&nbsp;be available to you at all times!!

We are so excited to spend time with all of&nbsp;our family and friends! After traveling so far from home, we want to make each of our guests are&nbsp;able to enjoy all of the activities&nbsp;associated with our wedding.
 Please take advantage of the Child Care options offered by&nbsp;<a href="http://www.collectionsofwaikiki.com/cwshopping/child_care_waikiki/" target="_blank">Poppins</a>, located&nbsp;at the Sheraton Waikiki (next door to the Royal Hawaiian)&nbsp;or make other child care accommodations.
 Please&nbsp;note &nbsp;for our rehearsal dinner&nbsp;(family & wedding party only), there will unfortunately&nbsp;be no high chairs provided&nbsp;as we are limited to a specific headcount for&nbsp;this event. Exclusive to children ages 3 months to 12 years old, Poppins Keiki Hawaii provides exciting and educational full-day, half-day and hourly child care programs in Waikiki. It is a Japan-based company, and is located in Suite 435 of the Sheraton Waikiki. Daily hours of operations are 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Popular activities include bodyboarding, Hawaiian arts and crafts, storytelling and short excursions. Daily activities are scheduled but may change depending on weather or the size of the group. Lunch is not provided, however, parents may order lunch through room service for a separate charge. Poppins USA Inc. offers in-room babysitting, starting from $25/hour.

CHILD CARE

Travel back to World War II-era Hawaii on this tour of Pearl Harbor, the USS Arizona Memorial, and the Punchbowl National Cemetery. Explore informative museum displays, climb aboard a US Navy launch ship, and drive through historic Honolulu with a knowledgeable guide.
Begin at the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, where you can watch a documentary film about the attack on Pearl Harbor before climbing aboard a US Navy launch ship to ride to the USS Arizona Memorial. Built over the sunken wreckage of this massive battleship, the memorial is a tribute to the 1,177 crewmen killed during the tragic events on December 7, 1941. Inside, somber memorials offer touching opportunities to honor the deceased.
Back on land, continue by bus to Punchbowl National Cemetery to pay tribute the men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces. Enter the chapel and reflect on the names of 28,788 missing military personnel, etched on the marble slabs of the grand staircase.
Wrap up your day on a narrated tour of downtown Honolulu, where you can snap photos of an 18-foot (5.4-m) tall statue of King Kamehameha—the monarch who united the Kingdom of Hawaii—and pass by the Iolani Palace—the only royal palace now a part of the United States.

Pearl Harbor & Arizona Memorial Half-Day Tour

Dip beneath the waters of Hanauma Bay and find out why this sheltered cove is one of Oahu's most popular snorkeling destinations. Drift past colorful coral reef formations, wave to passing sea turtles, and follow schools of neon-bright tropical fish.
Start your afternoon with convenient pickup from your hotel, and then ride out to the sugary sands that frame Hanauma Bay, a crescent-shaped body of water protected from the ocean's pounding surf. Grab your gear, get tips from expert staff on fitting your goggles on right, and then dive in.
Swim through gentle waves and scan the ocean floor for any one of the 114 species of fish that call this aquatic paradise home. You might see the black stripes of reef triggerfish or the nimble movements of a bright yellow Forceps Fish. Lucky snorkelers might even spot the giant shell of a majestic sea turtle.
The warm water ensures you can snorkel comfortably for hours, but if you need a break, find a place to soak up the rays on the beach or cool off under the shade of a swaying palm tree. A small snack bar is also available for a quick bite to eat or a refreshing drink between swims.

Hanauma Bay Snorkeling Adventure

From the summit of Diamond Head Crater, Hawaii's volcanic formations, endless ocean, and lush mountains all come into striking perspective. On this morning hike from Waikiki, see nature at its most awe-inspiring and learn about its geological and cultural context from your knowledgeable guide.
After easy pickup and transportation from Waikiki, arrive at Diamond Head Crater, Oahu's iconic tuff cone. Begin your ascent to the crater's 763-foot (233-m) summit with your trained nature guide. Along the way, learn enthralling information about volcanic creation, Hawaiian history, and the crater's military use.
As you work up a sweat over the course of this 45-minute hike, stop periodically at scenic rest stops to take expansive photos and catch your breath. Traverse the unpaved terrain before entering a narrow 200-foot tunnel. Once inside, climb up a spiral staircase to the summit.
Your work pays off and then some once you reach the crater's rim. Take in a dazzling panorama that includes Waikiki, the Pacific Ocean's sparkling blue waters, and the island's sprawling emerald mountains. Learn some final facts about native plants and birds on your descent; then unwind on the ride back to your hotel.

Diamond Head Crater Hiking Tour

From the high skies above Oahu, see the island's stunning hidden valleys and waterfalls only accessible by air. Picturesque views of Pearl Harbor await you, including the USS Arizona Memorial and the battleship Missouri.
Take to the sky and head out over the island of Oahu to take in famous locations and hidden treasures. Your pilot narrates your flight with fun, interesting facts and local history, using aviation-grade noise-cancelling headsets. Your Eco-Star helicopter provides 180-degree views of all the sights.
You might spot surfers catching the breakers as you fly over Honolulu and the famous Waikiki Beach. Stunning views of the Diamond Head crater, Hawaii's most recognized landmark, are yours to appreciate before you continue along the rugged coast to the North Shore. The crescent-shaped Hanauma Bay and white-sand beaches of Waimanalo highlight the landscape.
Next, soar into the valleys of the Nu'uanu rainforest to the thundering Sacred Falls. On the return back to the heliport, have your camera ready to take aerial photos of the USS Arizona Memorial and the USS Missouri in Pearl Harbor.

Blue Skies of Oahu Helicopter Tour

Come face-to-face with sharks 3 miles (4.8 km) off the shore of Oahu. With a snorkel and mask, dive into the Pacific Ocean to view these incredible creatures of the deep in their natural environment from the comfort and safety of a custom-built cage.
After a safety briefing, depart from the Haleiwa Boat Harbor and head out to sea. Take in the North Shore vistas on this gentle ride in a custom-made boat with covered, cushioned seating. Once at the shark viewing area, the cage is placed in the water. It floats at the surface, and when you enter the water you can choose to float or dive a few feet down while still in the safety of the cage.
With visibility that can reach 150 feet (45 m) or more, you can see the sharks come up from the cobalt-blue depths of the ocean. Watch as sharks ranging from 5–15 feet (1.5–4.5 m) in length circle only inches away from the cage. Viewing the sharks in their natural environment is a true wonder. Expect to see Galapagos sharks, sandbar sharks, all with unique traits that your guide shares through informative narration. Other marine life can possibly be seen such as: Spinner Dolphins, Barracuda, Mackerel, Tuna, Flying Fish and Humpback Whales (January-March).

Swim with Sharks North Shore Adventure

Oahu's very first zipline course, the 7 ziplines at Keana Farms offer adrenaline-pumping rides plus an up-close look at a working North Shore farm. Trek along elevated boardwalks through the trees, glimpse views of the ocean, and race a friend down dual lines over the tropical landscape below.
Venture to Oahu's North Shore, where native forest blankets the hillsides, pineapple plantations line red dirt roads, and nostalgic beach towns like Haleiwa give way to world-famous surf spots. Your tour starts with a 4-wheel-drive ride down a rugged dirt road to the beginning of the zipline course. Walk along an elevated wooden pathway through the trees and step into your harness, listening as your guide shares tips for picking up speed and getting the most out of your zipline experience.
All 7 lines of this course are dual lines, so you can leap from the platform and race to the end against a friend or just take in the spectacular surroundings together. As you glide over the canopy and the forest floor below, look out at fields of tropical fruit to the white sands and azure waters of the coast. Various rope challenges test your balance and take you out of your comfort zone, as you climb and rappel and cross rope bridges between platforms. Throughout this eco-adventure, your guide shares insight into the surrounding flora and fauna and tells stories about Hawaiian history and culture, rounding out this unforgettable outdoor experience on the North Shore.
