.... In a far far far (way too far) away land, a handsome US Naval Officer and an ER Nurse met online on a dating site whilst he was stationed in S. Korea and she was living in Australia.

After a couple months of courting and becoming friends, Sailor Dave and his adorable kids flew down from Seoul, South Korea to Sydney, Australia and met Nurse Mel in person during the Christmas and New Year holidays. While in Sydney, Mel showed Dave and the kiddos around the beautiful city of Sydney, beaches and watched the New Years fireworks over the Opera House and Sydney Harbour bridge! Dave and the kids were also introduced to Mel's family and best friend at a family dinner Mel's Mum threw in honour of Dave and the kids.

After a whirlwind trip to Australia, Dave and the kids flew back to Seoul. They both found a way to stay strong for their relationship! ** Selfie taken by Dave before heading to the airport.

Their long distance romance continued on....

..... And on and on! Both were in constant contact via Phone calls, skype, emails, texts and Dave has sent flowers to Mel's hospital.

After a while, the handsome sailor decided to design an engagement ring. Soon after, he came back down to Australia. For Mel's birthday, they spent the day having a couple's massage at an amazing spa overlooking Sydney's skyline and then, enjoyed a lovely lunch at the historic Queen Victoria Building (built in 1898 for Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee). Afterwards Dave proposed to Mel! She said, "Yes!". Dave and Mel showed up to her 29th Birthday party "Engaged!" to everyone's surprise!

Mel and Dave said, "I do!" on July 4th in Georgia in front of David's side of family and friends. They've planned to have a proper wedding in Australia and have his and her family and friends present.

Mel and Dave's first Navy Ball together during Mel's first time to visit South Korea, but she had to go back home to Australia and started planning their Australian wedding.

After months of being happily married, but sadly apart due to Dave's Navy orders, Mel finally made the move from Sydney, Australia to be with Dave and their sons in South Korea. They postponed their planned Australian wedding. Their adventures began!

Life in Seoul, South Korea was a lot of fun with Dave and their kiddos! In Korea, they attended their kids' sporting events, sight seeing, made friends with fellow Navy families and enjoyed Seoul's night life.

Christmas adventure at Guam as a newly wedded couple was magical.

Mel, Dave and their 3 sons moved to the US as a Family! This is when they truly bonded as a family!

First home in Pensacola, Florida as a family. For the first 2 years, Mel felt very home sick, missed her Mum, Sister, Niece and friends and was VERY culture shocked, but Dave did his best to make her feel more at home and at ease. Pensacola was where Sydney, the French Bulldog joined the Wright family!

Although, they were initially stationed in Florida, the Navy had different plans and they were stationed in 5 different states in the US! This was the first time that Mel has ever been to Disney World! She was hooked!

First winter getaway as a family 🩵 *Having a proper wedding with both of their family and friends were always in Mel's head.

Dave got promoted as a Lieutenant Commander in the US Navy. Mel's first time to witness Dave's pinning. *Location: The Pentagon, Washington, DC

Dave and Mel loved watching the kids grow into amazing young men and having their own adventures and reaching their own milestones!

They got stationed in San Diego, California. This was when Dave took Mel to visit Disneyland! One of their date nights was at the Hotel Del Coronado and that's when Mel finally saw the inspiration that Disney used to design their very own Grand Floridian Resort! Did you know, Mel is afraid of heights!? 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️ California was where Shippy, the French Bulldog joined the Wright family!

With all the Disney "scary" rides in the parks, nothing came as close to this chapter in their lives, but the ever loving and loyal Dave honoured his vows to Mel, "In sickness and in health".

Paradise found.... in the middle of the global pandemic and the entire world locked down! Dave and Mel bought their dream home site unseen!

Mel and Dave together with Sydney and Shippy, drove from Kansas to Indian Shores Beach, Florida and moved in to their forever home.
