Scott and Melissa's love story started as many do these days.. two people taking a chance online.
The first time these two met one another was at a Starbucks in Northville. It was too crowded to find a seat, so these two were off to a tremendous start; coffee in hand and deciding where to start their first date talk. The two didn't know that their problem-solving as a couple started 5 minutes after they met. (Later, Scott told Melissa that this was one of the times he knew she was different, she helped take control of the situation!) They ended up taking their coffees across the street to a Panera. They had a wonderful conversation getting to know each other face to face; discussing school, friends, family and Scott's favorite show at the time, Flip or Flop. When the Panera employee started awkwardly sweeping by them, they got the hint that Panera was closing soon. Scott was thinking, "Okay, we can do this again another time," but instead of going home for the night, Melissa suggested to go somewhere else to continue the evening. (Scott likes to think that he was forced to go lol)
The adventure continued to Buffalo Wild Wings for a beer. When leaving for the night, Scott mentioned about getting together in two weeks for an actual real date. Melissa thought she would be stood up or bailed on as it ended up being St. Patrick's Day, but Scott was working incredibly hard balancing nursing school, work, and now, a love life. Scott and Melissa chatted over the next two weeks and went on their first "official" date for dinner and drinks in downtown Detroit.
The rest is history! They've grown and gone through so much together. They have had tremendous road trips, laughs, cries, devastating losses, and beautiful gains. They compliment each other so well; Scott has shown Melissa that it is okay to slow down every once in awhile, share her responsibilities and that there is NOTHING better than an October college football Saturday! On the other hand, Scott knows that not everything has to have a plan, someone always has his back, and it's not too bad having two dogs. They are extremely excited to be marrying their best friend in front of all their family and friends knowing their love will continue to grow for one another.
