Melissa and Dylan's first interaction was over five years ago when Melissa interviewed Dylan to join a software company in San Francisco called Front App. One of her favorite questions to ask all candidates was the last great book they read, and she will always remember Dylan's answer, which earned him a perfect score for the interview: The Season of the Witch by David Talbot.

Dylan and Melissa went on to become colleagues and close friends -- even sitting directly across from each other for many months (Melissa forced Dylan to move his monitor screen so they could talk across the desks more easily). And it's a good thing she did, because it turns out that they were looking across the desks at their future life partners ;)

Dylan proposed in one of their favorite places in the world: Point Reyes, California. The California coastline had been a constant fixture in their relationship whether it was trips down to Big Sur, evenings with Picasso on Baker Beach, or many, many afternoons of surfing. It was only fitting that Dylan popped the question overlooking a truly epic stretch of coastline at the South Beach Overlook with a friend waiting in the hills to capture the moment.

With Melissa's friends and family largely living on the East Coast and Dylan's friends and family on the West Coast, they were interested in finding a location that could feel like a meeting point for both coasts. Dylan and Melissa's last trip before the pandemic was to Mexico City where they had an incredible time exploring the city, eating every type of taco, and drinking mezcal. It's a uniquely vibrant and colorful city that evokes the fun-loving nature of Melissa and Dylan's relationship as well as their love of cooking and cuisine. Once they discovered Publico Prim, there was no going back.
