There are many direct flights to Mexico City from East Coast, West Coast, and Central hubs on all major carriers. Flight time to Mexico City from San Francisco is ~4.5 hours and flight time from NYC is just over 5 hours. For reference, the airport code is MEX (Benito Juárez International Airport).
Uber is extremely safe, convenient, and affordable and should cost around $15.00 USD ($258 MXN) or less for the ~20 minute trip to the major accommodation locations (Roma, Condesa, Polanco, Juarez).
Your US or International Uber account will work without issue - you simply need data (a roaming cellular plan) to request the ride.
Processing Time: The US State Department estimates 10-13 weeks for routine processing time to renew or issue a new US Passport. Please do not wait to apply or renew your passport.
6-Month Validity: Mexico, like most countries, requires a minimum of 6 months of validity on your passport when you enter the country. Please be sure your passport expires after February 2025.
Tourist Visas: Most visitors do not require a visa and can enter Mexico for up to 180 days. These include visitors from the Schengen Area, UK, USA, Canada or Japan. Other countries may require a visa - please check to see if you require a visa
Mexico City has many great hotel and Airbnb options depending on your preference and budget. If you choose not to stay at one of the hotels listed below (CondesaDF, the Intercontinental, or Sofitel), we would recommend looking for an Airbnb in Juarez, Roma Norte, Roma, or La Condesa.
All the neighborhoods are very walkable, and safe, and have plentiful food, drink, and transportation options. The wedding venue itself is in the Juarez neighborhood, which is a very hip and upscale neighborhood, as well as the neighborhoods surrounding it. We would not recommend staying in the Historic City Center, as traffic can get quite bad for getting to and from the venue.
Roma and Roma Norte are described as Mexico City's culinary and artistic zeitgeist. The Roma neighborhoods have European architecture, tree-lined streets, and are covered in galleries, up-and-coming restaurants, and bars. Roma and Roma Norte attract a younger crowd than La Condesa and Polanco, and are perfect for guests who want to get a taste of Mexico City's nightlife.
La Condesa and Polanco are equally beautiful neighborhoods and fashion hubs within Mexico City that have a number of pristine public parks. While Roma and Roma Norte are often described as slightly more hipster and lively, La Condesa and Polanco are a bit more upscale with a quieter vibe.
CondesaDF is a boutique hotel located in the Condesa neighborhood on the border for Roma Norte. The hotel is a 15-minute drive from the wedding venue and will also be the location of our Welcome Drinks event on Saturday.
There is no link to book online so you can either call +52 55 52 80 1813 or email jlanda@grupohabita.mx and ask for rates for “Melissa & Dylan’s Wedding." They will send room options to choose from.
The Intercontinental is a mid-tier hotel option that's located in Polanco and is a 20-minute drive from the wedding venue. It's not possible to walk to the wedding venue from the Intercontinental but the area surrounding the hotel is full of parks, and restaurants. Most importantly, the hotel is a short walk away from our favorite taco spot, El Turix.
