Our Wedding

Just when Melissa thought she would have to start searching for a man on the Golden Bachelor, our paths crossed through a mutual friend who happened to play on both our hockey teams. We met on a blind golf date at Lewis Estates Golf Course, and Travis showed up in shorts that were, well, maybe a bit too snug for a full backswing (Melissa approved, of course). Despite several mulligans, we found ourselves in the same fairway, trading terrible dad jokes and lining up for a shot at something special. On our second date, Travis wooed Melissa with a canoe trip at Big Lake. The muskeg and potent odour of the Sturgeon River really set the mood. While managing not to tip into the bottom of the Sturgeon "Swamp", we quickly discovered we had more in common than just a slap shot and a questionable sense of humour. From craft beers to music, sports to puns, we realized we might just be each other's perfect match. As our story continues to play out, we’re excited to keep adding birdies, future travels, camping, ATVing, and, most importantly, laughing at each other’s corny jokes for a lifetime. Here’s to the long drive ahead. Fore-ever starts here. 💙🏒⛳

Our Story

Kick off the celebrations with us on Friday, October 17th at Snake Lake Brewery in Sylvan Lake from 7:00 PM – 12:00 AM. The Bride and Groom might even make a surprise appearance… that is, if Travis can focus hard enough to pass Rehearsal 101. Come raise a glass before the big “I Brew” Please text Travis and/or Melissa to tell us you will be joining so that we can let the Brewery know a rough guest count estimate.

The Night Before

Melissa and MJ’s friendship began the usual way - by stealing lunches and chirping each other on the ice. Since then, they’ve been through it all: highs, lows, golf trips, Europe trips, and way too many weekday dinners. MJ is the best friend who lives 100 meters away, always ready with a hug (which Melissa never needs), a snack, or some tough love. She’s not just the maid of honour - 'Midge' is Melissa’s ride-or-die through thick, thin, and everything in between.

Erin and Melissa met in high school and clicked right away, even though they went to different schools and Erin played ringette (don’t worry, we forgave her). Erin’s mother-like instincts, next-level organization, and love for party planning have 100% benefitted this wedding (thank you, Erin)! She’s the kind of friend who not only knows how to plan a party, but also how to throw one (especially at the lake). Keep an eye out for her on the dance floor - moms gone wild!

From road trips and Cilantro and Chive pit stops to casino nights and Oilers games, Leanne has always been Melissa’s go-to “yes girl.” She and her husband, James, were Melissa’s favourite couple to third-wheel. Leanne has a heart of gold, always ready to lend an ear and put others before herself. If you are looking to place the 'odds' or have a shot at the bar, look no further than our "yes [mom]" Leanne!

Kody and Travis met fighting fires in Fox Vegas and immediately became best buds. Even though Travis didn't know his real name until a year ago (please ask Kody for all the nicknames Travis has for him), Ch***  has left his St. Albert roots and become a "Sturgeon County man". 

Dekoda Coles

Mack and Travis have known each other since elementary school and continue to hunt, ATV, canoe, and banter like an old married couple. Mack is your human encyclopedia and is willing to give you all the information on any and all topics.

Saving grass by day, shooting zombies by night, Chad and Travis have been siblings since the womb. They love golfing, playing hockey, and giving recipe advice for their next Brenneis Meats smoking adventure. Hit up Chad for a free quote #greendrop

With a couple extra feet on Travis, Tyler always looked after both of his brothers. Despite Travis' bruised arms, Tyler's laugh and inappropriate humour make every family dinner much more entertaining. Tyler and his fiance, Erin, added their baby, Beau, to the family. We know he will have Tyler's strength, and sure hope he has Travis' toughness.

Although Gus won't be making the wedding (though he'd PAWsitively rock a tux), he’s been with us every step of the way. Gus has finally won over Travis, who now doles out bacon grease like it is the ultimate canine currency. While Gus will be cheering us on from home, we know he’d raise a paw to toast the big day if he could.

Right in the hustle and bustle of Lakeshore Drive and Sylvan Lake’s beach, the Sylvan Lake boardwalk runs along the water and is the perfect place for catching sunsets. A popular walk in the summer, head to the south side of the street along the strip of restaurants for less traffic. From 50 street to 46 street and Centennial Park, this trail is the hub for beach goers. East from Centennial Park to 34 street, the trail is much quieter and more treed. This trail is paved completely. Perfect for those who want to be right in the thick of things!
