During the Women's Pool League season of 2022-2023, Melissa's team was playing against groomswoman Dawn's team. During the match, they started talking about softball. Dawn said the team she played for in Prospect needed a 2nd baseman, and asked Melissa to play. Normally, Melissa would weigh all the pros and cons, but something told her to just say yes. Turns out, it was Kyle's team! That summer, they began dating! Now 3 years later, with 6 people and 3 dogs in their house, they're finally walking down the aisle.
