Our Wedding

The "first first date" and the "second first date" Chris and Meredith first met in July of 2018 through online dating on Bumble. We met up at Brother John's Beer, Bourbon and BBQ and enjoyed a nice conversation about our mutual love of bourbon and about our goals, but we were are different places in life and didn't fully connect that first time. We went on to have our own journeys and challenges, causing us to grow as people.

We met again in June 2023, again through Bumble. We still had a mutual love for whiskey, although Chris had stuck with bourbon and Meredith had now developed a taste for Scotch. We reconnected by texts and calls at first. After chatting almost every day for a while, we made plans to meet up at Red Garter, another whiskey-centered bar.

In what would become a theme in the relationship, Meredith had an errand to pick up free stuff from the internet. She asked Chris if he wanted to ride along in the car to start chatting during the drive, rather than wait around to start the main part of the date. Ever the good sport and along for an adventure, Chris said "Sure!" We chatted during the ride and then more at Red Garter. At the end of the date, we talked about what other plans we had for that weekend and ended up making plans to see each other again the next night on Saturday...and again on Sunday. Chris will explain that he knew Meredith was starting a new job and wouldn't be very available on weekdays so he wanted to take advantage of the chance to hang out. Meredith and Chris continued to chat every day the next week and then made plans for the next weekend. At a certain point, and neither of us knows quite when, Chris accidentally moved in. Our lives fit together so seamlessly that we didn't even think about it.

Gigi the "princess" has welcomed Chris with open paws and is forever grateful that Meredith brought home the boy who is now her best friend.

We have chosen to have only one attendant each, but everyone invited to the wedding is special to us. Chris' best man will be his brother, Michael. Meredith's matron of honor will be her sister, Bailey.

Official Hotel Choice of the Wedding: 

With the change of not having Tucson Meet Yourself, we are encouraging guests to stay here. We may or may not designate a block of room, depending on how many confirm they would come and want a room. I also hope to do a morning after breakfast here. The hotel has two towers: Estrella and Casino del Sol. It sounds like Estrella might be the best option for most of our guests. I think it's closer to pools. Estrella is also the cheaper option. The Casino del Sol is the best option for people who want to partake in the casino gambling portion. Either is very close, so it doesn't really matter.

The official suggestion for hotel is Casino del Sol. The venue isn't really close to anything, but Casino del Sol is the closest hotel option. Here is some other guidance: The venue is not close to the center of Tucson. It is rather far west on Ajo Hwy. The other closest option would be to stay in the town of Green Valley, which is straight down I-19. The cheapest option is probably to get a hotel near Tucson International Airport or near Tucson Mall. Those locations would be central enough but not ideal. Hotel Congress would be a good place to search to get an idea of what the downtown area means. The main streets for downtown would be Congress St. and Broadway Blvd. between about I-10 to the west and Euclid Ave. to the east. The hiking/nature options are on the outskirts of Tucson and other suggested tourist spots are spread out. Tucson has Uber and Lyft. Also, all Tucson buses and the street car are free to ride (as of 2024; subject to change). The area these cover is a bit limited but its something.

Tips on the Tucson area (to assist in choosing where to stay)

TUS is a relatively small, easy airport. For most people, the convenience of arriving at TUS will outweigh the small cost savings of flying into PHX. But, for some, a direct flight might be available to PHX. Airports: Tucson International (TUS) or Phoenix (PHX)

A historic hotel in the heart of downtown Tucson, It's too small to host most of the wedding and is probably expensive, so it's won't be our official hotel, but it's an option for some to consider.

This would've been a good choice if Tucson Meet Yourself was still the focus. But this hotel, or any in the same area, is right in the downtown area, with lots of walkable fun, including restaurants, shops and bars.

Tucson Meet Yourself (Edit: Change of plans!)

Oops! Despite asking the organizers when TMY 2025 would be held and scheduling the date around it, we got the disappointing news that they actually scheduled it on the following weekend! So this festival will be the first weekend we get to enjoy as a married couple and most of our out-of-towners probably won't be here but we hope you'll return some year to go with us! Original text: Meredith's favorite time of year in Tucson is the annual event called Tucson Meet Yourself. In fact, we lovingly refer to this time of year as Meredith's Christmas. The idea of the festival is to introduce you to all the cultures and groups that make up Tucson. There are stages with performances, booths selling crafts ... and lots and lots of good ethnic food! That's why many locals refer to it as "Tucson Eat Yourself." Meredith loves Tucson and loves Tucson Meet Yourself, so we chose this timing as an excuse for visitors and locals to join us at an event that makes us (particularly Meredith) very very happy!

Meredith likes to say that October in Tucson is like March in other places...in like a lion, out like a lamb. The beginning of October is pretty much still summer, and the end of the month is bringing the cooler weather that makes Tucson winter so comfortable. October 2024 has been extra hot, with temperatures over 100 degrees still. Please be prepared to wear sunscreen. However, dry heat means that the shade and the evening time usually makes a big difference.
