Michael & Teressa

Part of the reason for having the wedding on a Friday is to encourage people to explore and enjoy the place we call home. The Keweenaw is such a beautiful place and we are very excited to share it with you all. So make sure you stay through the weekend and explore after the wedding! Here are some of our favorites and if there is anything else you are looking to do, certainly just ask! Have a 906 day!

During Michael's time that he has been in the Keweenaw, he has been working on developing this Adventure Map which has locations for things to do and see. Some of it is compiled from other resources, and some of it is from Michael's own finds. He has been to everything that is a blue icon. Feel free to view this map and find your own adventure for the weekend! If there is something Michael is missing, let him know! You shouldn't be able to edit anything but if it does, please do not and make sure not to move any pins.

Michael is the volunteer president of the small non-profit that works to preserve this historic mine shaft building and often gives tours to visitors. It is the only place in the Keweenaw where guests can see the upper levels of a shaft-rock house and all the machinery that processed the rock as it came out of the ground.

Michael is planning to give a personal tour of the Shafthouse on Saturday @ 11am which anyone from the wedding who wants to learn about the copper history here is welcome to attend. (Although check back as it gets closer to make sure the time didn't need to change). Please give Michael a little heads up if you are interested so he knows about who to expect.

A great three-fer. Head to Freda to see the ruins of the Champion Stamp Mill (great to pair with your Champion Mine tour) on Lake Superior. On the way there, take covered road for a beautiful rural drive and then stop at Redridge dam to see the longest steel dam in the world and only one of three left in existence.
