I was at a cousins wedding when I got a notification in my phone that someone had liked my Catholic Match profile. Of course, being the thrifty person I am, I was using the free version, so I couldnt see who it was that liked me. Instead, I had to look through a list of suggested matches and like a profile to see if we both liked one another. One caught my eye, mainly because we had a lot in common and because the person seemed interesting. One thing i remember is that we shared the same favorite saints and sci-fi genres. I hit like and was immediately notified that we had matched.

We began talking, and we quickly realized that we were having a blast. We enjoyed the same shows, same books, and even food. Mike asked me out after two weeks of phone conversations. We met in NYC, and I knew then that this one was different. He was kind and warm and funny and reverent. He made a point of making sure we ate at a location that had gluten free options to accomadate my celiac. When we finally parted, I texted my cousin and said that he was special. Well, I kept wanting to see him, so when he asked me out again, I accepted.

We dated, making the mid-distance thing work, and learning more about each other. We visited museums and art exhibits, tried new foods and explored all manner of places. I knew within the first few dates thst we would be something that lasted. By the sixth month, I told myself that if he wasnt the one, there wasnt going to be one.

One weekend in June, Mike and I went to James Baird State Park for a picnic. After our meal was finished, he set up a camera. I knew something was happening then, and when he got down in one knee, well, I couldn't help but say yes! That evening, we celebrated by giving back to the community, in a way that I hope sets our married life on a path of generosity and hospitality.

Michael has been my rock theough some very challenging times. He has helped me grow and change for the better, and we have been learning how to love one another with all our hearts. He is a kind man, one who I know will keep me grounded and encourage me in our mutual dreams, making time for fun and for quiet conversations. Mike, i love you more than words can say, and Im so happy to be becoming your wife!
