How to Get to the Reception

From the church parking lot, turn right onto Raymond Ave Extension. Turn left at the light onto Main St. At the next light, keep straight in the left-hand lane to keep onto US-44. After about 1 mile, turn Right onto DeGarmo Rd. There will be a gas station and a carwash on the right, and a Walgreens, pizza joint and Chinese takeaway across the street. After about a mile, past the Overlook Drive-in, you'll come to a T intersection with a light. Turn left onto Overlook Rd. Follow Overlook to the end, about three miles. At the end of Overlook, turn right onto Freedom. After about one mile, there will be a left turn with a big sign to enter James Baird State Park. Turn left there, follow that road (Baird Park Rd) for about a mile to a 4-way stop sign. Continue straight to find JB's parking lot.

What airport should I fly into?

For long-distance guests planning to fly, we suggest Westchester County Airport in nearby White Plains as probably the closest airport. For guests that can't find a suitable itinerary from their location, Newark is a reasonable backup with a wide variety of flights available. We very much do not recommend trying to deal with the traffic for JFK or Laguardia.

What about Public Transit? Rail/bus/etc?

For those guests who wish to travel by train, Poughkeepsie is served by both Amtrak and Metro-North rail lines. Guests can take any number of Amtrak routes to Penn Station in New York City and transfer to the Adirondack or Empire Service train north to Poughkeepsie; guests coming from northwest may prefer the Empire Service across New York to Albany and south from there. For guests coming from (or flying into) southern New York, including the City and Long Island, Metro-North's schedule is likely to be more convenient than Amtrak, with trains heading north from Grand Central to Poughkeepsie roughly every hour. In general, we recommend that guests either drive or fly in and rent a car, or else make plans to carpool with other guests that are doing so. The county does provide a number of buses that guests can potentially make use of to get to/from the train station, but they do not stop close enough to the hotel or venues to be safe/convenient for guests.

We hope all of our guests are able to stay in accommodations that suit their needs and preferences. To that end, we have reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn for guests who prefer a hotel. Depending on your preferences, there are a number of other hotels in the area. We also have a list of some RV parks in the general area for those guests who prefer that method of travel, and there are a number of Airbnb home rentals listed in the area, though we can't provide any specific recommendations for those.
