The Great Rift Valley Lodge and Golf resort is located in Naivasha, Kenya. Naivasha is situated on the shores of Lake Naivasha from which it takes its name. The town derives its name from the Maasai word ‘Naiposha’, meaning "rough waters or that which heaves"(a common Maasai word for bodies of water large enough to have wave action when it is windy or stormy). Naivasha is about 92.8km from Nairobi (57.6 miles) and one can expect a 1-1.5 hours’ drive between the two towns.

Naivasha has earned a remarkable reputation for being the capital of Kenya's flower-growing industry. The town grows roughly 70 percent of Kenya’s overall flower production. The flowers are exported globally, and it is very likely that the flowers you buy at your corner shop overseas are from Naivasha. You can take an excursion to a flower farm while in town!

Besides Lake Naivasha, the town is close to other interesting geological and historical sites like Lake Nakuru known for its pretty pink flamingos and the Lake Nakuru National Park where you can spot rhinos, hippos and rare Rothschild giraffes. Hell’s gate National Park, named as such because of the intense geothermal activity, boasts spectacular scenery including towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers and scrub clad volcanoes and is located only a few miles from Naivasha.

Other sites of interest include Crater Lake, Mount Longonot, Soysambu Conservancy, Lake Elementaita among others that Google will tell you all about!
