As ATMs are more popular than exchange places, it is better to withdrawal euros once you arrive at an ATM in Portugal. Another option is, exchanging at your bank in the US before heading to Portugal. Keep in mind, exchange rates might not be as good.

Should I tip in Portugal?
It is optional! Most people simply round up or hand over 1-2 euros for good service. It is common at nicer restaurants to give 10% for good service and sometimes it is included. Look on your bill for a taxa de servicio or service charge to see if it has been included.
What food should I try?
SEAFOOD! Portugal's long coastline makes it next level for this cuisine. Sea bass is available everywhere and a must try but look out for local seafood specialities in each city. Lisbon is known for- cod! Portugal is also known for their Dried, salted cod called bacalhau. And don't forget to indulge in pasteis de nata, a famous Portuguese pastry.
