Our Wedding

Every great story begins with an unlikely encounter. Two people from different worlds, carrying a lifetime of unique experiences, meet and quickly discover they cannot stay away from one another. Michelle and Matthew took a chance and found a love they never knew existed. Life would never be the same—and they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Our Story

What began as a temporary work assignment in California for Matthew soon transformed into a long-distance relationship built on phone calls, emails, and countless interstate trips. Days turned into weeks, then months of getting to know one another and dreaming of a beautiful future together. Determined and devoted, these two nurtured their relationship into something extraordinary. You are cordially invited to be part of their story and to witness Michelle and Matthew deepen their bond with an eternal commitment—to love and honor each other emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

• Ceremony &amp; Reception: Formal attire (not black tie).• Welcome Party / Brunch: Festive, casual, and beach-friendly.• Rehearsal Dinner: Semi-formal Be as fancy as you want to be!

📅 Events & Schedule

When should guests plan to arrive?

Events officially begin on Friday, February 6 with the rehearsal dinner or welcome cocktail party. If you’d like to extend your vacation, you’re welcome to arrive earlier and stay as late as you want!

What time should I arrive at the reception?

Exact time is still TBD but its always good to arrive at least 30 minutes before the reception to get settled.

Will there be events before or after the wedding?

Yes! We’re hosting a welcome meet-and-greet with cocktails the night before, and a farewell brunch the following morning. Everything in-between is up to you!

👶 Kids & Plus-Ones

Are kids welcome?

We love your little ones, but our wedding events will be adults-only. If you’re bringing children to Naples, please arrange care for them during event times.

Can I bring a date/plus-one?

If your invitation includes “+ Guest,” then yes. And I'm pretty sure that's the case. Just RSVP on time so that everyone can be accounted for.

We’re working on it now and will post the link here once it’s ready. Should I bring a gift to Florida or ship it?Since we live in California, we kindly ask that gifts be shipped to our home to avoid travel hassles. So please ship gifts instead of bringing them to Naples. (If you need our address, just ask!) Do you prefer a honeymoon fund or physical gifts?We’ll likely keep our physical registry small since we already have most of what we need. What excites us most is a honeymoon fund — we’re dreaming of a trip to Europe, with Germany and Italy at the top of our list.

Is parking available at the venue?

Yes, valet and self-parking are available at LaPlaya. • Valet parking at LaPlaya Beach &amp; Golf Resort in Naples costs $44 per night for overnight hotel stays.• If you’re visiting the restaurant (BALEEN) and not staying overnight, it’s $5 for valet parking for restaurant visitors • I will need to double check on this for attending guests to the wedding and ceremony who are not staying at the hotel.

Things to Do

My cousin, whom I idolized during our summers in Wisconsin, gave me the sister I never had growing up between two brothers. From tubing on the lakes as kids to sneaking into outfits our dads didn’t approve of as teens, she’s always been my confidant. I feel so blessed to have her by my side as my maid of honor on this day I never thought would come.

My OTHER cousin I ALSO idolized growing up—being Becca’s older sister, we all looked up to her and followed her lead. Whether I was randomly bumping into her at Bonnaroo or trying to meet up at a show in San Francisco, I’ve always admired her free spirit and creativity. Every time we get the chance to see each other, it’s such a treat.

Julie Shevlin

Of my small group of best friends, Jessica has been in my life the longest—we met when she was the new girl on my elementary school bus, and I immediately wanted to be her friend. From innocent beginnings to getting kicked out of math class in middle school for tossing notes across the room, she’s been by my side through it all. Our shenanigans—often with the rest of our best friend group—remain some of my fondest memories.

Sum Sum. My “Sestra” and sister-in-law, she is one of the kindest and most genuine people I know. I’ll never forget when she lent me one of her long dress coats for dinner—despite being 10 inches taller, she promised no one would notice the short sleeves, and she was right (I even got compliments!). She’s brought so much joy into our family—especially through Caleb and Luke—and I couldn’t be happier to call her my sister-in-law and be a godmother to her son.
