Our Story
What if the love of your life is there?
Michelle and Rebecca met at a bar in Ballston on February 19th, 2022.
Michelle was new in town, saying yes to opportunities to meet new people. Rebecca was reluctantly putting herself out there with the help of friends who would drag her out on the weekends. After being invited to this Valentine's Day themed party, Rebecca sought encouragement from her friend, Autumn, who accidentally prophesized, "what if the love of your life is there".
Michelle and Rebecca's friends recognized each other from a local kickball league, which prompted the two groups to converse. Michelle and Rebecca bonded over the fact that neither were intermural athletes, which turned into a conversation that closed the bar down at 2am.

Michelle and Rebecca explore the National Portrait Gallery together for the first time. Rebecca introduces Michelle to a Mardi Gras King Cake in the courtyard.

Rebecca and Michelle explore the National Arboretum together, thus starting an annual cherry blossom season tradition.
June 11, 2022
Michelle and Rebecca attend their first concert (with special guest Hanna Vossler). Since Phoebe Bridgers at the Anthem, they have been to over 20 live shows together!
July 04, 2022
Michelle and Rebecca begin a summer full of figurative and literal "sparks", kicking it off with the 4th of July firework display on the National Mall.
July 13, 2022
Michelle joins Rebecca on a work trip to Boston. An early, yet naturally timed adventure where they realized they travel quite well together.
August 13, 2022
Michelle and Rebecca enjoy a weekend cabin trip with friends as they begin to merge their lives.
November 12, 2022
Michelle and Rebecca visit the Anderson House in Dupont Circle for the first time. They fall in love with the history and design of the home. They start to include historic homes in their itineraries for every city they visit.
December 20, 2022
Michelle brings Rebecca to her hometown. Rebecca walks on a frozen lake for the first time and gets a lesson on cheese curds.
February 10, 2023
Michelle further introduces Rebecca to the harsh yet alluring Midwest winter at the Devil's Punchbowl.
April 08, 2023
Michelle and Rebecca officially move in together. Bentley is finally at peace now that his moms have found each other.
May 19, 2023
Rebecca graduates with her Master's degree from GW--something she could have never done without Michelle's support and encouragement.
October 05, 2023
Michelle and Rebecca become domestic partners for insurance purposes, but also because they love each other. They both start new jobs and phase into an exciting chapter of their lives together.
March 19, 2024
Michelle and Rebecca take their first international trip together to Iceland. They begin fantasizing about opening a bed & breakfast on the small and cold Nordic island.
March 31, 2024
Michelle and Rebecca visit their first National Park together. Since this trip to Shenandoah, they have been to 8 National Parks, and have plans for several more!

Michelle and Rebecca further unlock their love of nature and the outdoors on their first camping trip together in the Minnesota boundary waters.
August 30, 2024
Michelle proposes to Rebecca at the Anderson House. The two have a photoshoot and relish in their shared love of historic and beautiful homes.
September 03, 2024
Rebecca proposes to Michelle at the National Portrait Gallery. The two play a round of Bananagrams and reminisce about the endless hours they've spent in the galleries.
December 24, 2024
Michelle and Rebecca elope at the Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, MD. They tearfully exchange vows in a private ceremony in the greenhouse.
