What is there to do the weekend of the wedding?
Our wedding will take place 20 minutes outside of the Nation's Capitol. There is plenty to do and see. The host hotel is five minutes from the National Harbor, the MGM Casino and the Tanger Outlet.
For those who want to do more site seeing, we recommend going into the city via the metro. You can catch the train from Eisenhower Metro Station (located directly off I-495 (Capital Beltway) and next to the Hoffman Town Center, connect to REX and local Alexandria DASH bus routes at this station). This is the closest and safest station near the host hotel.
Once in the city, you can venture about the city using the Hop On, Hop Off tour bus (www.trolleytours.com/washington-dc). Daily tour passes start from $44.95. This is the best way to see the city.
Some of the best sites to see while visiting the DMV are:
The National African American History Museum, the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, Smithsonian Air and Space Museum., the Washington Monument, Martin Luther King Jr. Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, and the Jefferson Memorial. These are some of the most visited sites in the city.

Will there be a meet and greet on the ship?

Do we have to use Norwegian's mode of transport?
Feel free to let the group coordinator know, especially if you live on the east coast and are within driving distance, that you would like to forego the cost of the flight and transfers. Parking is available at the port and the total cost will be approximately $270, less than two round trip flights and the cost of transfers. This will save you a little money and you will be able to leave the port directly after arriving back into NY. This is certainly up to you. Can I bring my own sodas, water, or alcohol on board?
Currently Norwegian does not allow cruisers to bring their own water, soda or alcohol on board for consumption. Packages are available for purchase to provide these items. Each person is allowed to bring two bottles of wine on board the ship. There may be a corkage fee associated with this.
How much is the gratuity?
The standard gratuity rate per day per person is $20.00 (recently increased). This can be paid in advance or when you board the ship. It is best to pay in advance to save you money as the amount increases if paid on board the ship ($25 per day).
Can I Bring an Iron or Steamer on board?
Irons / Ironing Boards and Steamers
Guests are not permitted to bring and use their own irons or steamers onboard. Norwegian Cruise Line carries a limited number of irons and ironing boards which can be loaned to guests for a few hours at a time. They can be requested through housekeeping or Guest Services Desk.
Irons and steamers would both be taken from guests at embarkation and returned at the end of the sailing.
Do I need a passport to travel?
It is not required, but highly recommended. When traveling outside the U.S., an official government issued ID is acceptable (e.g., state issued DL; passport card). If you need to renew your passport, the booklet is $130 and the passport card is $30. If you are a first time passport holder, the cost is $160 and the passport card is $35. Visit the State Department website for more information: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/how-apply/fees.html . Be mindful that the turn around time may take up to 6 weeks or longer, so don't delay in processing.
Should I Bring a Carry-On Bag and How Many Bags am I Allowed??
Guests should bring a spare overnight bag because all suitcases are collected the night before we return to homeport. Each person is allowed up to two pieces of personal luggage on board, with each piece weighing a maximum of 50 pounds. However, if passengers are travelling by air, they need to check with the airline for specific restrictions. Also be mindful that the first day on board you won't receive your bag until later in the evening due to the number of guests on board. It might be wise to pack a small carry-on bag with a change of clothes and your toiletries so that you can freshen up before your bags arrive to your cabin.
