Charlie and Micka met at the incredibly awkward age of 13 in Mrs. Miller's Language Arts class. They immediately expressed interest in one another, however being only 13, that meant sidewise glances and overt, tactless flirting. Charlie worked up the courage to ask Micka out over the phone, which basically was the extent of their conversation for the entirety of their two week relationship. After the break-up, Charlie and Micka remained friends for the next several years, but with more capable social skills and slightly more tactful flirting.

The stars finally aligned junior year of high school when Charlie and Micka realized the error of their ways and began dating again. With years of friendship under their belts, they formed a strong connection and quickly fell in love. Despite going to separate Universities, Charlie and Micka remained close thanks to the marvels of modern technology. At times, they have lived thousands of miles apart, but have always been able to fall back on their great friendship and love for each other.

With so many years of dating, Charlie knew he would need to be creative in order to surprise Micka with a proposal. After buying, borrowing, and re-purposing a ridiculous amount of extension cords, LED lights, and assorted electronic gear, Charlie developed a plan staged for Christmas Eve. Micka arrived home from church to find a path to her family's backyard laden with lights. As she followed the path, more lights lit up, each leading to a box with a small present and a note saying "follow the lights". Finally, at the back corner of the yard, a patch of four trees were illuminated with a small box on a perch at the center. As she reached the box and read the enclosed note, Charlie revealed himself, dropping down to one knee. Micka happily said "yes!" and the rest is history.
