Baseball and volleyball brought us to New Mexico for college from Texas and Michigan. We met each other in 2015 for the first time at a party, flirted here and there but both were too nervous to pursue anything further. There was a cocktail party that we both went to in December and while we were all hanging out by the fire with friends Michael asked me to dance. We had such a blast dancing and we both could not stop smiling lol. We were cracking up the whole night! Michael asked for my number that night but I was playing the “hard to get” card so I insisted him to give me his number instead. 😉 although he was 100% interested I just thought he was just flirting with a little liquid courage and I wasn’t really serious lol. We both were going home for Christmas break anyways and I figured we would just forget about the whole thing. The next semester, he had a class with one of my roommates and would come over to our house every Sunday to watch the walking dead with us and do homework. After a month or so of him coming over and getting to know him, I started to realize how much I really liked him. My two girlfriends and I traveled to watch the baseball team play at their away games and had so much fun that weekend with the guys. The whole weekend my friends Riley and Marissa were teasing me about Michael and insisting that I finally text him. I remember typing multiple messages and erasing them trying to find the perfect text to send, I was so nervous! After brainstorming with them on what to send him, I ended up just texting the most basic message “Great game today!” 🤦🏽‍♀️ TERRIBLE lol. Riley was texting her boyfriend Cody at the same time while the guys were on the bus heading back to school and she was telling us that Michael stood up and announced to the whole bus that I texted him and was doing the same thing I was doing. 🤣 trying to figure out what to text back with help from his friends. We both don’t remember what he texted back to me or what we talked about that whole night. I just remember the butterflies in my stomach ❤️ We went to eat sushi in Santa Fe for our first date and it was such a wonderful night. Now it’s tradition for us to have a sushi date every year for our anniversary. 🥰 Michael officially asked me to be his girlfriend after a month or so of dating in the McDonalds parking lot of good ol’ Las Vegas NM lol. The rest is history!
We now share a beautiful home in Michigan on Secord Lake with our two fur babies, Stella and Lucy. Never in a million years did I think that I would meet the love of my life in some random town most aren’t aware is the “the original Las Vegas” AND that he would be from Michigan! I remember when Michael told me he was from Michigan I legit had to pull up a map on google to see where it was. Yes it’s true what they say “Texans only see Texas on the US map”. 😂 Michael officially popped the question on May 15th 2022 while we were fishing at the Charity Islands and he caught me completely off guard. He planned the perfect surprise and of course the first words to come out of my mouth were “Is this a joke?” 😂 It was the best day ever and we are both so excited to share our special day with all of our family and friends!
