Our Story

The Story of Us

Brandon and Miranda met in June 2022 and right away Miranda could tell things would be different. Since they met on a dating app, they texted back and forth for a week while Brandon was on family vacation. Even over text Miranda could tell how intentional he was, which was so different from most of the people on dating apps. When they finally got to meet in person, their first date was at the Birmingham Zoo, with lunch at Monday Night Brewing afterwards. The first date lasted several hours and they really got to know each other through Brandon’s intentional questions (interrogation). They quickly realized they were each tired of the online dating world and wanted to be serious right away. Just over a week later and less than two weeks after they initially matched online, Brandon asked Miranda to be his girlfriend and said he hoped it was not too soon. It was not.

Since their first date in June 2022, they have spent the majority of their time together and have grown much closer to one another. Through all of this time together, they have learned that two of the most important things to them both are family and home. Brandon’s family (besides his father and stepmother who also live in the Birmingham area) all live in Houston, a 12 hour drive away. Miranda's family is split between Fairhope, Alabama, Tucson, Arizona, and various parts of Georgia. Despite the distance between all of their families, they have been able to meet and visit several times. They each very quickly felt at home with the other families.

In addition to the couple's biological families, Miranda and Brandon have a large friend group, which is like family as well. They are so happy to have friends to go to church with, friends to share weekly dinners with, and friends to go on trips with. Miranda and Brandon also have three dogs (Ranger, Badger, and Lou) between them and are excited about the home they will all create together.

Even though they each come from different areas, Miranda and Brandon have found their home in Birmingham. They are attending members of Brook Hills Church, Miranda has her private practice in Birmingham, and even though he moved around a lot growing up, Brandon has now lived in Alabama longer than anywhere else. More than anything though, they have found their sense of home in one another.
