Q + A

Is this an outdoor or indoor event?

Both! The location is on a wide-acer country side that was hand built and designed by the venue owners, Denny and Jenny, who also reside on the property and call it their home. The ceremony will take place outside with nice drapes and trees to provide shade for seating with the reception to follow indoors just a few steps away. Don't worry, there will be A/C! Keep in mind how our Texas weather will be in the spring, hopefully not too hot, but also with a little chill at night and a nice breeze, if Mother Nature is kind to us on this special day. If it rains, umbrellas will be provided, if not a heavy rain, or a delayed time will be announced if necessary.

Where do I park?

When entering the front gates of the venue, follow the road down until you see the area labeled parking. Please park in the designed parking areas that is allowed by the owners. Please have some respect and park only where it is labeled. The owners work hard on maintaining the property and greenery themselves, so please do not tear up their amazing yard. Glimmering oaks is not responsible for theft or other damages to vehicles, but WE are so be mindful and safe. ALL VEHICLES MUST BE OFF THE PROPERTY BY MIDNIGHT! NO EXPECTIONS!

What is the deal with the Alcohol?

Be respectful and responsible! There will be an open bar providing drinks to serve, however, THIS IS NOT BYOB! The only person who is allowed to serve alcohol is the bartender! If you have a preference, you can bring your own selection and/or donate a bottle of your choice (Tequila, Vodka, Whiskey, Rum), so that we can give it to the bartenders to serve when the bar opens. Per venue owners request, NO SHOTS OR GLASS BOTTLES ALLOWED! Also, don’t forget to bring tips for our amazing bartenders who will be working all night to keep your whistle wet! Now, this should be common sense, but I will say and repeat over again, PLEASE DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE! Plan ahead, phone a friend, whatever you do, have a designated driver or get an Uber PLEASE! We want everyone to get home alive and well!

Is Smoking/Vaping allowed?

It is only allowed in designated smoking areas. Glimmering oaks was kind enough to provide a beautiful outdoor firepit with seating that has a birds' eye view to the venue so that you don't miss a moment while you have your smoke break. Please do not leave your cigarette/cigar butts on the ground, throw away your trash. Not only is it harmful to the environment, it is dangerous to the local wildlife that reside on the property. Smoking is prohibited inside the venue and restrooms.

Who can I bring to the wedding?

Of course those with children have already been accounted for in the guest list, but please, if you're bringing a Plus One, let us know in your RSVP so that we can have the proper accommodations. We want to make sure everyone has a place to sit with a nice meal.

Are kids allowed?

Yes, you may bring your children if you'd like. We understand it's hard to get a babysitter sometimes. Be sure when you RSVP, you include the number of children who will be attending so we can accommodate for them as well. All we ask is that they remain under constant adult supervision. This venue is also the home of the owners, so please keep your children close in the designated areas and do not allow them to roam the property. There are unlighted open fields, possibly wildlife and large industrial equipment near by that the owners use to maintain the property that could be dangerous for children who stray too far.

Are photos/recording allowed?

We kindly ask that everyone respect our wishes, please no photography or recording during the ceremony. That's what we pay the photographers to do and we will share what they capture with everyone once they are done. We want everyone to enjoy and live in the moment while we say our "I Dos", not view it through your phone. During the reception, feel free to whip out your phones and go crazy!

What to do about gifts?

We greatly appreciate anyone who would like to give us wedding gifts, however we request that you order from our registry or provide something that will fit in a card box. This will ease the load of things that will need to be packed up after the wedding.

BUT WHAT DO I WEAR?!

It's a wedding... you should know, of course do not wear white, think of the children and have some class. Of course dress comfortably because we all know Texas is bipolar, but with some style. Our wedding is based off a Celestial theme, under the starry sky, so big and bright...(pause). Most of the area is grassy acres and gravel, so be careful and don't break your ankles.

Handicap accessibility

The venue is handicap and wheelchair accessible. There is designated handicap parking spots located near the front and most of the venue is wheelchair accessible with ramps. Also wheelchair accessible bathroom stalls and diaper changing stations in both men and women's' restrooms.
