Sean & Mollie can't actually remember exactly how they met. But this is because they have just always known each other. They grew up in the same neighborhood in Yorba Linda, CA after both families bought a home in a new housing development in the late 90s. The two grew up going to the same elementary, middle, and high schools, with Mollie just a few grades behind him. Sean was friends with Mollie's two older brothers and was over at the Smith house often. But because Mollie always had a crush on Sean since they were children, she usually tried to avoid him when he came over to ensure she wouldn't embarrass herself or seem awkward.
As they got older, the two spent more time together, walking around the block for hours on end chatting, or sneaking out of their houses on the weekend with their friends so that they could all hangout together. As they grew up, graduated from high school, and went off to college, they drifted apart and didn't really keep in touch, aside from liking each other's posts on Instagram every now and again.
Fast forward to 2019 -- Sean randomly commented on one of Mollie's Instagram posts, which led to months of messaging back-and-forth. Following her graduation from Cal State San Marcos, Mollie decided to move to Seattle with a friend. Shortly after, Sean accepted a job with the Forest Service and moved to Vancouver, Washington. The two made plans to meet up one weekend after Sean had officially moved to the Pacific Northwest, with Sean planning a date at a beautiful beach spot along the Columbia River. They had gone years without seeing each other, but it was like no time had passed and they sat on the beach talking until it got dark.
Now, Sean & Mollie have been together for almost five years, celebrating from the day of that first date (June 5, 2020). Sean proposed on October 7, 2023 while the two were on a weekend getaway to the Oregon coast for Mollie's birthday. It's been a wonderful and wild ride with their relationship beginning at the height of the COVID pandemic and having lived in four different states in the last four years, doing long distance much of the time. But they are so excited for the next chapter and can't wait to celebrate it with everyone they love.
