Explore Historic Downtown Jacksonville

Jacksonville, OR

Jacksonville is an old, historic gold mining town in Southern Oregon, less than 10 minutes away from the wedding venue. It is one of our absolute favorite towns; it's completely walkable and has endless charm, nature, and lots of local shops.

Our favorite coffee shops are GoodBean Coffee and Cerberus. If you're looking for good lunch or dinner spots, try La Fiesta, C Street Bistro, Al's Mediterranean or Bella Union. And while there are SO MANY wineries and tasting rooms across Southern Oregon, there are many great ones specifically in Jacksonville, including Remotion, Somar Family Vineyards, South Stage Cellars and Parkhurst.

If you're looking to get outside and take in some gorgeous fall views, you can go on a short walk through the Peter Britt Gardens or get lost in the Jacksonville Woodlands Trails if you're looking for more of a scenic hike.

And if you just want to walk around town and check out the local coffee shops, stores, or bars; stay on California Street!

Explore Ashland!

Main St. Ashland, OR

Ashland is an amazing city with tons of character. Only 20 minutes south of Medford, with tons of fun things to do and places to see.

One of our favorite spots to frequent, hands down, is Brickroom. Wonderful for breakfast, lunch or dinner, and offers great drinks. Case Coffee and Mix Bakeshop have some outstanding coffee, but if you're looking for a decadent tea experience, Lovejoy's Tea Room is an English style tea house that is sure to impress you!

There are many great food options in Ashland, some of our favorites include: Hiro Ramen, Umami Sushi, Creekside Pizza, Pangea Sandwiches, and Skout Taphouse.

Ashland also has a robust nightlife scene. If you're looking for drinks, definitely go check out Liquid Lounge, Brickroom (again), Local 31, Oberon's, iPub, or Beaux Club.

If you're looking to get out in nature while in the area, don't miss Lithia Park! A lovely park right in downtown Ashland, with trails following alongside Lithia Creek. In October, you'll be sure to catch a show with the Autumn leaves beginning to change color!

City of Medford

Medford, OR

Before we get into what to do in Medford, we need to address the most important (and irritating) thing about this place. PLEASE ALWAYS GO THE SPEED LIMIT. For some reason, Medford has more speed/red light cameras than anywhere I've ever been. Not to mention, there are always police officers patrolling the area. Trust us, you do not want that $165 ticket.

Now that that's out of the way, Medford does offer some fun things to do and see! Some of our recommendations span all over Medford, but you can also just stay on or around Main St. and find all kinds of coffee, food, and parks!

Restaurants:

Coffee - Solid Ground, Artisan Bakery Cafe, or Forage

Breakfast - Tartine, Over Easy, or Roosters (diner vibe)

Lunch - The Beatrice or Common Block

Dinner - Tap & Vine (American), Vinny's Italian Kitchen, Cicily's (Italian), Kin Thai (Thai food), Tekkamaki (Japanese) and Noho's Hawaiian Cafe

Bars:

Jefferson Spirits, Rocky Tonk (country bar), or Butterfly Club (speakeasy, must call for a reservation and get a password)

Wineries:

Dos Mariposas, Rellik Winery, Hummingbird Estate, Roxy Ann Winery, or EdenVale

Outdoors:

If you're into hiking, we love going to either Upper or Lower Table Rock trails, Roxy Ann Peak Trail, or The East Applegate Ridge Trail (if you have time to drive a little further out).

If you're just looking for a nice and easy walk to enjoy nature, check out TouVelle State Recreation Site (takes you along the Rogue River).
