Dallas, TX, Houston, TX and Monterrey, MX, and Mexico City, MX all have direct flights to Oaxaca. The Oaxaca airport is located 30-40 minutes from Historic Central Oaxaca. Once your arrive find the Taxi sign by the exit and schedule a taxi to your destination.
Do I need to bring pesos?
YES! While most places take credit card, you will need to bring pesos if you plan on shopping with street vendors, tipping or taking a taxi. The best place to do this at your bank before you leave the US. We would highly suggest you do not exchange dollar/pesos at the airport.
Molly and Jose Eduardo, when are you arriving there?
We will be in Oaxaco Wednesday October 16th.
What do I wear?
Wedding Day is formal. For ladies, a floor length formal dress is preferred. Remember, Oaxaca has cobble stone streets and we will be walking in a parade after the wedding so wear something comfortable or bring flats to change into for that part. For guys, suit and tie. Temperature ranges from 54-82 degrees in October with it getting colder at night.
Outside of the wedding be sure to bring flat walking shoes as most streets are cobblestone.
How are we getting to and from the reception?
Once we are married (WAHooo!) we will participate in a traditional short distance parade from the church and into the street that will end at a location where we will have vans waiting to take us to Hacienda Piedra Azul. There will be transportation provided every hour from 10pm- 3am back to Central Oaxaca.
If I don't speak spanish, is it safe and can I easily travel to Oaxaca?
YES! Luckily, we will have many friends and family attending that are bilingual english/spanish. But most people in Oaxaca speak english and will converse with you that way. The airport is small and easy to navigate too.
Can we bring our kids?
Short answer is no, not to the wedding events. Truly, we love your kids, but we want you to have a blast at our wedding events and we don’t think it’s safe for kids. But some of our friends with kids have decided to invite their parents along to Oaxaca to make a family vacation out of it and the grandparents will watch the kids while mom and dad celebrate. Just a thought!
