Traveling to the Wedding

The Ceremony

3:00 PM

August 10, 2024

Our wedding ceremony will be held at the pier at Herreshoff Marine Museum in Bristol, RI ~ where JJ learned to sail on the museum's fleet of nearly 100 year old 12 1/2's. The Museum's Hall of Boats will be used in event of rain.

The Museum is Located at:

1 Burnside Street Bristol, RI

Parking is located across the street from the pier, in front of the museum with overflow parking available on High Street.

The Museum assures us there will be adequate parking but guests can park at the Reception Location (Bristol Yacht Club) and carpool (~5 minute drive) to the Ceremony Location if they choose.

Guests will need to cross to the ceremony location at the crosswalk on Hope Street in front of the museum.

There is a slope and uneven pavement so those with mobility challenges are encouraged to be dropped off directly at the pier. Traveling down Hope Street from downtown Bristol take a right onto the red brick ramp at the pier. There should be someone there to assist with unloading.

The Reception

4:30 PM

After the ceremony guests are invited to join us for a reception at Bristol Yacht Club ~ where Molly learned to sail, and where three generations of Millard's have made their home port on Narragansett Bay.

101 Poppasquash Road Bristol, RI 02809

The club has a large parking lot in front and there should be ample parking for all. Depending on weather and attendance there will be signs directing dropoff for guests with mobility challenges.

Getting To Rhode Island

Washington Bridge Closure

The absolute most important thing to know about traveling to Rhode Island in 2024 is that the Washington Bridge, the main bridge on 195 through Providence is currently undergoing major repairs. This has reduced travel in both directions to three lanes and created serious traffic issues during peak travel times. It was improved a lot since the initial closure, but it should still be a consideration when picking hotels, etc.

If you plan on staying locally during the wedding we would encourage you to stay in the East Bay. If you do choose to stay in the West Bay (Rhode Island west of Providence) make sure to plan ahead for traffic. This will affect those driving in for the day from the west and anyone flying into Providence Airport (TF Greene) which is located in Warwick west of the bridge.

Flying

TF Greene is our local airport, and it's great! Less expensive than Boston, and easier to get around. The Airport is located in Warwick and should be ~ 30 minutes from Bristol. Unfortunately, it is on the opposite side of the Washington Bridge, so take that into account when making plans for getting to and from the airport.

Driving

Guest should consult Google Maps/Waze for traffic reports even if they don't actually need directions. The Washington Bridge Closure will cause worse-than-usual traffic.

Those traveling from Massachusetts south should consider bypassing bridge traffic by taking Route 24 through Fall River.

Sailing

Bristol Harbor is one of the best anchorages on Narragansett Bay. Moorings are available from Bristol Yacht Club, Herreshoff Marine Museum, the Town of Bristol, and Bristol Marina.

Consult Dockwa for more information.

Prices start around $50

For those without a boat who want to get out on the bay, boat rentals are available at Herreshoff in their fleet of classic 12 1/2's.
