Although Molly would deny it, I’m confident it was my patented dance move, The Cats Paw, that first got her attention.

That was back in 2016 in Tempe, AZ when we were training for our first adult jobs at Edward Jones. With enough bad jokes and persistence she finally agreed to go out on a date with me.

Just like any good love story, work moved me back to Fort Wayne and Molly…wasn’t moving to Fort Wayne. She was going where a girl from Massachusetts and a boy from Indiana would fit in perfectly: southern South Carolina.

Many late night FaceTimes, a couple visits to each other (especially Molly’s first and probably only Little 5 weekend), and I knew I had to take a leap of faith and follow her to South Carolina.

I moved not far from her to Savannah, GA and we made the much much shorter distance work. By a stroke of luck work moved her down to Savannah within just a couple months of us moving.

It didn’t make sense for her to drive from South Carolina every day for work so we started sharing my tiny 400 sqft apartment. It had a toaster for an oven, no closets, and one burner. We had already been through long distance...and now we had to work through not-enough distance.

We bought our first house in 2017 and started making Savannah our home.

Since then it’s been a thrill sitting next to you at Savannah Bananas games, winning a pickleball national championship, learning to ski, getting nervous together when we lose the trail in Yellowstone, and a lot more.
