The handicap entrance is located in the breezeway to the left of the main entrance on Broad Street and has elevator access. High in the hills of the republic of Cascia, in a tiny Umbrian village called Roccaporena, Antonio and Amata Lotti were well-respected peacemakers. In 1381, they welcomed their only child, Margherita. In the local dialect, her name meant “pearl," but she was known simply as Rita. In 2016, the parish was closed leaving the National Shrine of Saint Rita of Cascia to operate exclusively as a national shrine. The Shrine community now extends beyond the city boundaries to the entire nation.

The League House occupies an entire city block in the center of Philadelphia. The building is representative of the classic French Renaissance style, with a brick and brownstone façade and dramatic twin circular staircases that lead to the main entrance on Broad Street. Built in 1865, the building was added to the National Historic Register in 1979. Its art collection is a rich chronicle of Philadelphia’s unique imprint upon the American landscape from the 19th century to today and is recognized by historians and art experts as a valuable component of American history.
