Eureka Lodge was built in the 1920's. Originally a part of a large mining complex, known as the Martin Mining Complex, that included over 100 mine claims, the lodge sits at 10,500 feet on 40 acres surrounded by Forest Service or BLM land. The lodge is listed on the National, State and Local Register of Historic Places.
The Martin Mining Complex is representative of the boom and bust cycle that was always present with industrialized mining. It displays the development of industrialized hard rock mining and the transportation infrastructure needed to make such mining profitable in a rugged region. The 1929 Martin Boardinghouse is one of the best-preserved and largest boardinghouses still standing in the San Juan Mountains.
The Lodge is located approximately 8 miles (22minutes) from Silverton. The Co Rd 2 is a well maintained dirt road.
*Co Rd 2 is closed during the winter season until April 2023, if mapping the route before it reopens, the map will show a longer different route.
All guests will park in a parking area approximately 1/4 mile from the lodge near Eureka Camp Ground. The lodge provides UTVs which seat 4-6 and will shuttle guests to and from the parking area, the shuttle ends at 10:00PM sharp. Guests are welcome to walk as well.
*We are looking into getting transportation from Silverton to the Lodge, please check back for more updates*
