Croatia is a place unlike any other in the world, and we cannot wait for you to experience it for yourselves. This country holds a special place in our hearts, especially for Monika, who is from Croatia. Sharing such a meaningful and magical part of the world with our closest friends and family means everything to us. Please, please, please double-check that your passport is up-to-date and does not need to be renewed as you will need a valid passport to enter Croatia. Please ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure date from Croatia. If it expires December 2026 or earlier, it is highly recommended that you renew to avoid being denied travel. &nbsp;Standard U.S. passport processing usually takes 9-12 weeks, but expedited service (for an additional fee) takes around 6–8 weeks. Airfare

There are three main airports we would recommend utilizing depending on your travel plans: Split Saint Jerome Airport (SPU): 20 minutes to Split Old TownPlanning on coming into Split only and/or exploring the surrounding area? Flying directly into Split is a best, hassle-free option.

Franjo&nbsp;Tuđman International Airport Zagreb&nbsp;(ZAG): About 3 hr 40 min drive via carZagreb is the capital city and offers so much to see and do! It is a great drive to Split, and along the way, you can explore all that the north half of the country has to offer, including the Istria region, Plitviče Lakes National Park, Krka National Park, and Šibenik.

Dubrovnik Ruđer Bošković Airport (DBV): about 3 hr via carIf you're wanting to really explore all that Dalmatia has to offer, consider starting or ending your trip in Dubrovnik. This medieval town is known as the “Pearl of the Adriatic” for good reason and a must-visit (especially for Game of Thrones fans who want to see King's Landing). Located 3 hours south of Split, this is a road trip of a lifetime.

Accommodations in Split 

Split has numerous accommodation options for every taste and budget. May is shoulder season, but we recommend booking early! The most convenient (and in our opinion best) option is to stay in Old Town Split or very close to it. The area is beautiful and historic, you will feel transported back in time, and you will be right in the middle of all of the action. If a more classic beachfront hotel is more your vibe, you will find accommodations all alongside the coast as well! PARKING IN SPLIT

Split was originally&nbsp;founded in the 2nd century BC and all that history and charm does not come without some modern inconveniences such as some tricky parking! Visitors staying in the Old Town and not intending to use their cars for a couple of days might want to consider leaving their cars or rentals parked free of charge further away from the city center or leaving their car at the airport before coming into town. If you are traveling via car and plan on having your car with you while you're in Split, please plan ahead for parking. Note that you cannot park in Old Town as it is a pedestrian only zone so you will have to likely park 5-10 minutes walk minimum from your accommodations. That being said, it is not difficult once you know where to look:

The four major parking lots for people staying in and around the Old Town are&nbsp;Stari Plac&nbsp;(Ulica Zrinsko-frankopanska 6),&nbsp;Manđerova&nbsp;(Ulica Petra Svačića 18),&nbsp;Vukovarska&nbsp;(Livanjska ulica 18) and&nbsp;Trg Hrvatske bratske zajednice. The closest parking lot to the Old Town is&nbsp;Riva&nbsp;(Obala Hrvatskog narodnog preporoda 2), but the hourly rate is much higher there, costing 20 HRK for the first hour and an additional 25 HRK for every extra hour. Street parking is available, but it's often limited and can be more expensive than garage parking.&nbsp;Pay attention to parking zone markings and payment methods (coins, SMS, or the Split Parking app).&nbsp;Some areas may offer free parking on Sundays and in summer, and Saturdays are often paid until 2 PM. Often you can pay for street parking with credit and debit cards. If you are planning to park your car for a longer period of time, you can consider purchasing the daily parking ticket, which can cost from 75 to 90 HRK. You can find the list with all of the for-pay parking lots in this <a href="https://www.splitparking.hr/parkiralista" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">link</a>.&nbsp; However, not all parking places in town are monetized and only parking places clearly marked in blue paint are for pay. Most of the residential areas in Split, particularly those further away from the Old Town, have their own, free of charge parking lots. To make parking and payment easier, consider downloading these apps in advance: Split Parking App – Official Split Parking app, which can be used to both pay and find parking, including those with sensors indicating availability.PayDo&nbsp;– Widely used in Split for paying public street parking zones.Bmove&nbsp;– Another local app for city parking meters.

Whether you are going by train, boat, or car, traveling in Croatia is very easy especially due to the friendly locals. As you're planning, remember this is a small country both in size of population and land! The population of Croatia is only slightly bigger than Iowa. To roadtrip from the capital city, Zagreb, to the most southernmost point in Dubrovnik, it is only about 6 hours with lots to see and do along the way!

Dalmatia (Southern Croatia)

Central Dalmatia

Set sail with us for an unforgettable evening on the Adriatic Sea! If you are joining us in Split ahead of the wedding, we’ll gather with our friends and family for a private sunset boat cruise along Croatia’s breathtaking coastline. Expect beautiful views, sea breezes, and plenty of time to relax, mingle, and toast to the celebrations ahead. This is an optional event open to all of our guests. Villa Dalmacija 

Nestled in the heart of the Marjan Hill Forest Park along the majestic Adriatic Coast of Split, the Villa Dalmacija or Tito's Villa is a magnificent seaside chateau. This property was built in 1914 by Czech entrepreneur Franjo Schiller, which he named Villa Schiller. However, within two years of the ending of World War II in 1947, Yugoslavian President Josip Broz Tito noticed this beautiful villa during a visit to Split and immediately decided to nationalize the villa for his personal use. It was then that the residential property was renamed Villa Dalmacija. It's history doesn't end there as Winston Churchill has walked the terrace of the villa and Indira Gandhi enjoyed walking to the nearby forests. It is situated on the southern slopes of forest Marjan in Split.&nbsp; After the death of Tito, the Villa Dalmatia started to slowly deteriorate as it was used less and less. Nevertheless, in the post-Tito era, there was one major event that took place in this villa. In March 1991, the first meeting between the leaders Slobodan Milosevic, Alija Izetbegovic, and Franjo Tudman was held in the Tito Villa to discuss how to avoid war across the entire former Yugoslav region.It was only after the end of the Yugoslav Wars that the Villa Dalmatia began to be used for hosting marriages and special events. In addition, the villa was used as a shooting location for season 5 of the hit television show Game of Thrones.
