Do I need a passport to travel to Croatia?

Yes, all international travelers (including U.S. citizens) need a valid passport to enter Croatia. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your planned departure date from Croatia. We recommend renewing if it’s set to expire soon. Standard U.S. passport processing usually takes 9-12 weeks, but expedited service (for an additional fee) takes around 6–8 weeks. Visit travel.state.gov to apply or renew.

Do I need a visa to enter Croatia?

No, Croatia is part of the Schengen Area. Visitors from the U.S., Canada, UK, Australia, and most of Europe do not need a visa for stays under 90 days within a 180-day period (as long as their passport is valid for at least three months after their planned departure date). Check the Croatian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website for the most up-to-date requirements.

When should we arrive in Split?

At minimum, we suggest arriving at least 1–2 days before the wedding to adjust to the time zone and enjoy Split before the festivities begin. Wedding events begin on Wednesday, May 27.

What currency is used in Croatia?

Croatia uses the euro (€). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s handy to carry some cash for small purchases, tips, or kiosks.

Are ATMs easy to find?

Yes, ATMs are widely available in the city center, at the airport, and at most tourist areas. Be sure to decline currency conversion when withdrawing to avoid extra fees.

Do I need to rent a car?

Not in Split itself—the city is very walkable and compact. Taxis, Uber, and Bolt are available. You may want to rent a car if you're exploring other regions of Croatia before or after the wedding.

What is the weather like in Croatia end of May?

Weather in late May is typically very warm and sunny—expect highs in the mid-70s°F / 24°C. We suggest light layers and comfortable shoes as you'll be walking on cobblestone streets!

What should I pack?

Sunglasses, sunscreen, comfy walking shoes, swimwear, guest attire, and perhaps a light jacket for evenings. Don't forget your passport and power adapter (Croatia uses type C or F plugs, 230V).

What language is spoken in Croatia?

Croatian is the official language, but English is widely spoken, especially in tourist areas.

Is Croatia a safe country?

Yes, Croatia is considered very safe! Like anywhere, use common sense—watch your belongings and be aware of your surroundings.

Will my phone work in Croatia?

Most phones will work, but check with your carrier for international roaming rates. Many offer affordable travel data plans. Alternatively, you can buy a local SIM card or eSIM for data use in Croatia.

When should I book my flight?

International flights should be booked 3–6 months in advance for the best pricing and availability—especially if traveling around holidays or peak season (like late May in Croatia).

Can I bring a gift in my luggage?

The couple kindly requests no gifts. We are so excited that you are going on this adventure with us and that is a priceless gift!
