Dress Code Q+A
Semi-formal is always tricky. What do you really mean?
Please err on the side of more formal, not less.
May I wear white, off-white, ivory, cream, or champagne?
For ladies: absolutely not. Those shades are reserved for Monse and Monse alone. Wearing them, even in a "close but not quite white" tone, is not appropriate for this event or any other wedding in which you are not the bride. If you're holding up a dress and asking yourself whether it might count as white, it counts. Please choose something else.
How long does my dress or skirt need to be?
Knee-length or longer, strongly preferred. A midi or maxi dress is always a great call. If it's above the knee, it should be just barely - not a mini. Think about how it looks when seated in a pew.
What about a slit in my dress?
A subtle slit at or below the knee is fine. High slits that ride up when walking or sitting are not appropriate for a church ceremony. If you're second-guessing it, trust that instinct.
Can I wear a pantsuit or dressy separates?
Absolutely. A formal pantsuit or polished dressy separates are a great option for ladies.
Do I really need to wear a tie?
You will not be excluded from the event by foregoing a tie, but please wear one.
Can I wear a tuxedo?
We love the formal-leaning thinking, but no. Please do not wear a tuxedo.
